Monday's Very Late Blessing

Well, Monday's In Touch devotional was based on Acts 6:4.   "But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."   I have studied Acts many times before, but never realized till this time around that it was not just a historical account of the beginning of the Church after the ascension of our Lord, BUT, it is an exhortation, or more of a command to me, to help in the growth of the Church by sharing the gospel myself.

I had always used the cop-out that I don't have the gift of evangelism, so that is why I do not evangelize.  It was when my daughter was in college, and I saw her enthusiasm for her participation in Campus Crusade for Christ, and being bold to do short term missions projects, after having gone to Tunisia in high school to help missionary friends of ours.  Her example challenged me to stretch myself, and I went on a Campus Crusade trip to Spain.  What I learned in that two week trip, where I particpated in the distribution of the Jesus video and Arabic New Testaments to Moroccans, was more than just about sharing the gospel.  I learned about God's awesome power to strengthen me.

After spraining my ankle, I was assigned to the 24 hour Prayer Room to pray for the team members who were working in the port.  I had never prayed, alone, for such a long time, but learned so much about prayer in those morning prayer times.  God showed Himself to me in a very powerful way.  Today's verse reminds me of that time.

How has God worked in your heart about sharing His love and grace with those who don't know Him?

Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.
