As promised (threatened?)
Hi all here I am as promised. A bit about my self, I'm a 60 yr old gal, married 25 yrs. to the greatest guy, between us we have 3 kids, 7 grands and 4 great grands. We live in the country on 2 acres and are retired so just kinda go with the flow, no time clocks to punch. I'm not formally educated in the Bible like Randall but I have taught Sunday school for awhile till my health took a nose dive, doing better now tho.
My goal here is to have place where we can bring our prayer requests and praises for the blessings God sends our way. I'll throw out a topic that I get from "Our Daily Bread" by RBC Ministries. Today's topic is "Do we fast food our scripture readings?" I know I'm as guilty of this as anyone. Just skim thru the reading and not really think about or digest it, something I need to work on. We tend to gobble it down like fast food and jump on to the next goodie. So I would ask that we all try to spend more time digesting our scripture.
My praise for today is we have a new year full of opportunities let's go grab the blessings God sends us and spread them everywhere we go! Please pray for those who were devastated by the recent tornados. See ya all tomorrow! Karen

Hi Karen,
I know I am late in posting for the 1st, but I am replying none the less.
I am a 53 year old woman, divorced, mother of three, grandmother of two. My kids live far enough away from me to whine about it now and then. I am retired from teaching, on Disability. I am hoping to start a part time job as a therapist soon. I was told I was hired, and am just awaiting the paperwork to be processed.
As for the question about fast food scripture: Boy, am I guilty of that big time? I know that I suffer for it, but yet, I zip through my devotions, and move onto my day. I really need to get better at that.
My praise, is that I am getting good walks in multiple times a day with my dog. Maybe I should put my iPod on and listen to praise music while I do that.
I would appreciate prayer for my bursitis. I was due to get a cortisone shot the week I developed my blood clot, and now taht I am on coumadin, the pain doctor won't give me the shot until I am able to go off the coumadin briefly. My hematologist wants me to wait six months from when I started the coumadin, which was October. The pain wakes me up at night, and only goes away when I take Percocet. Please pray, because I fear my addictions kicking up on the Percocet, but can't live with the pain. Being RNY patient, I can't take the NSAIDs that everyone recommends. Chronic pain is what led to my ending up in rehab in January.
Sorry for babbling.
Happy New Year,
Hugs,
Trish

Good to see you Trish! I'm surprised they are making you wait for the cortizone injection, I also take coumadin and have for over 20 years. I've had cortizone injections while taking my coumadin with no problems. I guess it depends on why you are taking the coumadin, myself I have a genetic clotting disorder so will be on it forever. I hope they will be able to treat you soon cause I know what chronic pain is all about! I have fibro and recently started having horrible foot pain from arthritis. I did however finally get relief from my back pain that has plagued me for over 8 years by getting a spinal stimulator implanted in my back. It's justy amazing that a little electrical zap can get rid of the tremendous pain I had. The tech said he can play with it and try to get it working in my feet too, so I need to get back in for a "tune up". Hang in there kiddo this too shall pass.
I am taking the Coumadin for life as well, genetic clotting disorder, and I still have the clots. I must wait six months from the clots, which was two months ago. So, I am on a pain killer, which I am diligent about not abusing.

Trish

Well, to answer the post about Fast food scripture, I was skimming and had to put the laptop away until the kids were in bed. I didn't even know what the topic was until just now! lol.
I am in a spot of losing my faith. I'm not sure how to get it back. That's a lie I think it starts with daily readings and I just haven't gotten back to it. Hubby is sick and I'm in the 'why us' phase. I have three small children and am a teacher.
Thanks for getting the board moving.
