Life Plan Devotion #167 [Now, I see]

Hi, Everyone.
For those of you following "the romance of the century," wedding plans are progressing. Saturday, Leah and Regan drove to Wichita, to register at JC Penneys and Target...nothing fancy, just the basics to set up house. Regan wasn't particularly thrilled to spend the day walking the aisles of stores, although being with Leah would be fun, he said. Leah, wise woman that she is, gave Regan the scanner (he called it 'the zapper'), and that injected a bit of fun for him. After they returned, Leah changed clothes, and they met a gal from our church, went to several places around town, and took engagement pictures. I can't wait to see those pictures. I have my dress for the wedding. It's champagne colored. I have a jewelry set that I found on ebay, which I received that Saturday. It matches my dress perfectly. The dress looks better on the hangar than it does on me, but it's better than going in slacks. Countdown to the wedding: 68 days.
Please pray for those having surgery today and this week, and remember those who are recovering from surgery. Let's lift each other up in prayer, as well.

Life Plan Devotion #167 [Now, I see]

John 9:6-7 [NLT] "Then [Jesus] spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man's eyes. He told him, 'Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam' (Siloam means 'sent'). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!"
[Note: Pronoun changed to proper noun and inserted in brackets by author, for clarity.]

Just picture that! Jesus spits, makes mud, and rubs it on a blind man's eyes. I don't know about you, but my first reaction is "Eww." Then I think, "Wow! That man had spectacular, spiritual spit on his eyes!" Why? Because Jesus wanted the man to walk to the Pool of Siloam and wash the mud off. He wanted the man to make the decision to obey, to be willing to do "the hard thing," which, for him, would have been to make the trek down the hill to the pool, even though he could not see the way. He did, and he came back with his sight, both physical and spiritual.

What this has to do with weight loss: Obese believers often pray for God to take away their desire for food. The better prayer would be, "God, help me to eat with thanksgiving and discipline." God will do His part, if you will do your part. It will not be easy, but God always honors obedience.

Today, what would you like to see "healed" in your life? Are you willing to "do the hard thing," to receive that healing? If you're interested in the historical and archaeological evidence of Bible accuracy, watch a 7-minute [or so] video of the excavation of the Pool of Siloam http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=b72a7ae443a8d8fbdad 1 and/or listen to "Amazing Grace" by Chris Tomlin http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=8a6274ea1a6de369bd9 a.

Blessings,
Mary
