Life Plan Devotion #163 [Living Water] and Update
Hi, Everyone.
It has been about 2 weeks since I last posted the Life Plan Devotion, and I've missed it. Have you? I'm still struggling with writing devotions, but I do have 21 that I've written in the past, which I will post now. I pray they will minister to you.
I want to thank all of you who have prayed for me the past 2 weeks. I felt your prayers. The Lord and I dealt with some old wounds, and while I wouldn't say I'm 100% "there" yet, it's better than it was. I'm definitely a "work in progress."
I also wanted to give you an update on "the romance of the century." For those of you who have followed the romance of my daughter, Leah, and her beau, Regan, he moved from his home in Indiana last Friday and now resides in the great state of Kansas. :)
Regan surprised my grandson, Dylan, by showing up at his swim meet Friday night, so that was fun. Regan did stay with us Friday night, and it was nice to have him rise early Saturday morning, come downstairs, where he and I chatted until Leah woke up (definitely separate bedrooms, on separate floors).
How precious to watch them give each other a hug (kissing is being saved until their wedding day), and then they sat down in front of the fire and had their quiet time together, reading out of the Bible and then praying together.
Saturday night, they had family devotions with Dylan, beginning to read the Book of Ephesians, sharing prayer requests, and praying as a family. I listened quietly from my chair in the living room. It blessed me so much.
After tucking Dylan into bed, Leah and Regan picked up one of the girls from our church, so that she could chaperon their movie date. That may seem strange, since Leah and Regan are adults, but they did not feel it would be a good testimony to be alone at the house where Regan is house sitting.
The biggest news of all is that Sunday afternoon, Leah and Regan went to our local park, and Regan got down on one knee and asked Leah to marry him. She said yes, of course. I wasn't witness to that, but it was precious to hear them tell me about it. Leah's engagement ring is white gold, with a princess cut .5 carat diamond. Nothing fancy, but very pretty.
The wedding date is December 19. Yes, this Dec. 19th! I think I've figured out that the "no kissing boundary" means a short engagement. :) Pray for us that we can keep our wits about us as we plan a wedding that will happen in a little less than 10 weeks. I'm thankful Leah wants a simple wedding. I'd appreciate your prayers for God's provision in the area of finances, as well.
At their family devotions Sunday night, Dylan prayed and thanked the Lord for answering his prayer for a daddy. It was very sweet, and, of course, I cried.
Speaking of prayer, please pray for all those having surgery today, as well as those recovering from surgery. Okay, now for today's devotion...
Life Plan Devotion #163 [Living Water]
John 7:37-39 [NLT] "On the last day of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, 'Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, 'Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.' (When He said 'living water,' He was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But the Spirit had not yet been given...)"
Jesus is the living water who satisfies our thirst. When we believe in Him, He gives us His Spirit. The Holy Spirit becomes an inexhaustible river of living water, welling up in us and flowing through us. The indwelling and eternal Holy Spirit goes with us wherever we go and can quench even our strongest spiritual thirsts and meet our deepest needs. Having this water "on tap" is the key to resisting the temptation of any compulsion.
What this has to do with weight loss: As a believer, you have the Holy Spirit residing within. However, He is a gentleman and will not take over without your permission. If you desire His help to resist the temptation of foods that do not serve you well (or any other issue related to weight loss or maintenance), you must yield to Him daily.

Praising God along with you about Leah. How wonderful God is to us if we just put our trust and dreams into His hands. What a wonderful testimony for Dylan. He must be on cloud 9. Praying for you also. Aren't we all works in progress. Thanks so much for sharing all you do Mary I am truyly blessed. I know 10 weeks is not a long time but Lord willing it will be enough time to plan a wedding that God wants for both Leah and Regan. Thanks again for updating us.
