Who Am I? I am a member of Christ's body.
1 Corinthians 12:27- Now you are members of Christ's body, and individually members of it.
I am a member of Christ's body.
This verse has so many factors to it for me. I think of body, as in the body of Christ, the Church. Being part of the Church gives me value and responsibilities. I also think of His body as in the home of the Holy Spirit, going back to the verse about being bought with a price.
If I am a part of a body, I must be active. I can not be sedentary. My physical body is always working, even when it is at rest. My heart still beats, my lungs still breath. My ears are always on alert. My digestive system still processes the food, and so on.
Being a part of Christ's body means I must be at work, mentally learning what it means to be part of Him. Serving, growing, obeying, praising, learning, loving, etc.

I love that I'm a member of the Body of Christ--of the Church Triumphant. Heaven's going to be a blast!
I love that when I meet another believer (even right here on OH), there's an instant connection.
You talked about responsibilities, and that's true. Too many of us are just pew sitters, in our church (the local dwelling place for the Body of Christ). We go once a week, soak up the good stuff, and then go on our way. We need to be involved, to give back. We need to serve and teach and love others, and, especially, carry the Good News to those who don't know Jesus.
The Bible says the disciples went from house to house. They had communion (literally and figuratively) on a daily basis. How much contact do we believers have with one another these days? I know we're all busy, but we really do need each other.
If, as a believer, you (and I'm talking to all believers) are not either being discipled or discipling someone, I believe your walk with the Lord will (eventually) suffer. That's an "iron sharpeneth iron" statement, I realize, but it's food for thought. :)
Blessings,
Mary

"You tell me to guide your path but you don't want to move your feet"
then the second is from a sermon I heard once...the pastor said: "We 'work' from the cross and not to it" He brought out that we can never earn our salvation by working, we just need to receive...but then works will automatically come from that gift. We will 'want to' share what we have received :)
This last one was really an eye-opener for me as I had been in a cult for 13 years where the main focus was on works.
Thanks for posting Trish!
