God's Time, Not Mine!

Grace and peace OH family! I'm so excited to share my good news with all of you. I saw my surgeon today and we've scheduled my surgery! The date is Monday, August 10th! I'm thrilled and nervous and excited. I know in my heart of hearts that this is the Lord's doing and it's marvelous! My surgeon, Dr. Edward Yatco is such a warm, wonderful person. We had a great time during our consultation. He makes me so comfortable and I was able to chat with him for an hour with questions that he graciously answered. Now I have to take on the task of starting to watch my food intake, check out some protein drinks, look for chewable vitamins and begin a bit of exercising. Thanks again for the words of encouragement and let's remember to pray one for another. God bless!

That is GREAT news! I'm so happy for you. The next few weeks will fly by. :)  As far as protein drinks, I would just buy individual samples, because even if you found one you "love" now, tastes change so much post-op, that you might end up not liking "the one" and having a big tub of it go to waste.
Check out the chewable vitamins at www.celebratevitamins.com. The multivitamins are pretty good, and the Iron +C is yummy! The Calcium chewables are pretty good, although I really like the Cinnamon lozenges at www.bariatricadvantage.com, because they're a hot cinnamon. Actually, my favorites are their new Calcium Chewy Bites (both chocolate and lemon). The chocolate is a bit gritty, but it reminds me of licking the bowl of brownie mix. The lemon chews taste close to the taste of a Starburst. I know some say you can use regular vitamins, etc., but I have compared, and the bariatric vitamins and supplements have more of what we need, which means we don't have to take as many (on the whole).
Do you have an informational notebook from your doctor, with post-op instructions (diet, etc.)? If not, and you need a pdf of something to look at, just let me know. I'll find a link for you. Let me know which surgery you're having, so I get the right one for you. :)
You are in my prayers. I praise God for how He is leading and guiding you.
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks so much for the well wishes Mary. Yes, I have an info pamphlet with the pre- and post-op instructions. I will be having the VSG done. Believe me, since I'm a writer I had a list of questions for my surgeon during our most recent consultation and he covered EVERYTHING. I'm really blessed to have all of you in my corner as well. Thanks again and I'll post as often as I can. God bless! If any of you are interested, please visit my website at www.divinecreationsonline.org for info on my writing.

Hi, Ronnie.
You're going to love your Sleeve! :)  I visited your web site--very impressive! I enjoyed reading the 3 writing samples, also. Hey, if you ever get so busy that you need an extra hand, I've done a bit of editing myself and would be happy to help. I haven't a clue as to how to get my name out there, as a proofreader/editor, but I do love the work. I have edited recently, as a writer friend allowed me to edit his new book. I didn't charge him, though, because I wanted the experience.
God bless you, in your endeavors. :)
In Christ,
Mary

Thanks Mary. I believe I'm going to love my sleeve too. I also think that's a wonderful offer from you. I just started my business about a year ago. I've only had 3 clients thus far and one of 'em has actually paid...wooo-whooo!!! It's such a blessing to me because I do so love to write. My own book was self-published back in August of 08 and I never got a chance to promote it as I was busy helping others with their writing projects.

Today I just finished a 300+ page novel (for my paying client) and we are in the final copy-editing stages. I prayerfully have two potential clients coming in over the next couple of months. The idea of expanding my services, is quite appealing,  I just need some more time (and clients).

God bless you again and thanks for offering. Oh, uh...and the next time you help someone out try to get paid for it. As a matter of fact, ask the person you've helped if he might consider giving you a little 'thank you for your help' blurb in his project. This will get your name out there. Next, you should get some simple business cards printed and hand them out to friends, your church fellowship, etc. You'd be surprised how quickly the word will get out about your writing. You know people will take you more seriously when you take your gift (writing) more seriously. Allow your gift to make room for you and God will expand your borders! Start looking on line also to get an idea of what proofreaders, copy-editors, etc. get paid. God bless!

Congratulations on completing your latest project. May it be the beginning of many more to come! :)
My writer friend (and mentor) included me in the Acknowledgments page of his book, which was very nice. He used my middle name (which is what he calls me)--a little disappointing, but it's all good.
Do you mind me asking how much you had to pay, to self-publish your book, and for how many copies?
Thank you for all your great ideas!
Blessings,
Mary

I just ordered your book! I'm excited to read it. Not that you have any say so in the matter, but I wish PayPal had been an option at Checkout, as I try to avoid using my credit card number on-line. It's all right, though. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks for the order Mary. I'm sorry about the Paypal situation...that is my fault because I have been too preoccupied to set it up. Now I will. I pray that you get something from it (the book) as that was my intent for writing it. If I recall, I probably spent no more than $500 to get it finished with Author House. As far as buying copies in bulk I was not able to do so at that time due to limited finances. Hindsight tells me that I should have purchased as many printed copies as I could since so many people are apprehensive when it comes to ordering on line. As respects your 'acknowledgement' being in your middle name, just include it in your business cards. You might even consider using your middle name as your 'business' name.  Thanks again for your kindnes and encouragement. God bless!

I'm sure your book will speak to me, as I was prompted to order it. :) $500 is not bad at all, to publish a book. I may have to check into that, if you recommend Author House, because once I have 365 life plan devotions, I may publish a yearly devotional book. If the Lord gives me the go ahead, that is. :)
In Christ,
Mary

After reading some of your posts it sounds like He already has. Go for it Mary and allow your gift to make room for you. You're a blessing here on this forum because you know how to work the Word of God because it obviously works for you. I love it when I see other believers rightly dividing the Word and applying it accordingly. As believers we are to be 'devoted' to God; so go forth and share the gift of devotion with others. God bless you!
