Life Plan Devotion #26 [Wait]

Usually, this is how God gives me the daily devotion. The day before, I "hear" a verse of scripture or a topic from Him. I meditate on it, think about it, pray about it, and just let it "percolate." Sometimes, I wake up in the night and think about it some more, often receiving more direction from the Lord, in prayer. In the morning, when I awake, I am usually able to sit down at the computer and allow God's message to flow through my fingers. He is faithful. All I have to do is listen and be obedient.
Yesterday, however, no topic came. By last night, I'll admit, I was a bit nervous. I knew, though, that God would come through, for I know that He has absolutely been "all over" this daily devotional, from the very first one.
At 3:00 a.m., I awoke with a start and "heard" the word "Wait." I reached for my concordance and began to look up scripture with the word "wait." While it was a precious time of reading the Word, no certain scripture jumped out at me.
I began to pray for guidance in how to develop today's devotion around the word "Wait." After praying, I just got quiet, to listen. I felt led to go to
www.GodTube.com, and, once there, I simply typed in the word "Wait" at the Search. There were 2 videos listed with just that word as the title. The first one, while very nice, was not "the one." The second one was the one.
I believe there is someone--actually, more than one person--who needs to hear the message in this song, "Wait." I want you to know that this song is absolutely for you, today, from Almighty God. For those of you who are ministered by this song today, I ask that you reply by post or PM. All you have to type is "This was for me" and, if you're willing, give me your first name. My pledge to you is that I will pray for you today.

Your devotional today reminds me of the words "Be still and know that I am God..." from Psalms 46:10.  It is a phrase that often finds its way to my mind when I'm being impatient with the way things are working in my life.  Weight loss included.

Have a wonderful day,
Vickie

I love that verse, and I love the Steven Curtis Chapman song that was inspired by it (link above).

Thank you for reading and replying. Enjoy some Holy Stillness, today.
Blessings,
Mary

Thank you for the video.  It was a nice one, and I passed it along.

Well here's one for you my sister, my speakers are evidently unplugged (DH has been playing with my 'puter) yet just the scripture verses screamed to me. You know I don't often watch the videos as I explained earlier but looked at this one since it was your devotion. I've been pretty down lately because I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon last week and I just "knew" he was going to be the one who could fix my 4 year battle with back pain. Well nope he said he didn't see anything he could surgically repair so back to square one. I'm so tired of being either in pain or all doped up, I'm very grateful that modern medicine can help with the pain but I really just want to play with my grandkids and help out at church. Anyway after a few really down days I guess this is God's way of telling me to keep waiting, He's not saying no, just wait, right?! Any prayer is always appreciated and I'm just taking it all one day at a time for now.

I'm so very sorry that you continue to experience pain. Chronic pain is the worst! God is NOT saying "No" to your prayer. There is value in God's Waiting Room. The challenge is to find out what that is. Personally, I feel that most pain is attached to unresolved emotional issues. What, in life, causes you the most pain, emotionally? If that issue (or those issues) could be resolved, you might see the physical pain resolve, as well. Keep in mind that the resolution of those issues doesn't have to be that those situations become what you think or even dream they should be. Otherwise, you would feel that there's no hope. No, sometimes the resolution is total acceptance that those issues may never change, and you decide to "let it be." Never accept that pain is going to be a part of your life. Well, that's my take on that. I suppose if the only way you feel you can cope with pain is to come to a place of accepting it, then that's your call to make. I believe that spiritual and physical healing is promised us in the cross, for "by His stripes we were/are healed."
I have written a series of devotions on divine health and healing. If you are interested in receiving one per day (for about 2 months), I would be happy to send them. Just PM your email address to me. You won't hurt my feelings if you don't want to receive them.
Praying for You,
Mary
