Hi, Everyone.
I trust you had a nice Thanksgiving. While I could not partake of the usual fare, it was wonderful to be with the family.
Just a note, that I will be posting tomorrow's devotion earlier than normal, as I need to travel to Oklahoma.
Please continue to share what God is doing in your life, what you are learning and experiencing, etc., as it is an encouragement to all *****ad your replies.

Relational Devotion #23 [Trials & Sorrows]

John 16:33b
"'...Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.'"

In this world, we encounter "many trials and sorrows." Many of them are beyond our control. These can be endured with God's help. On the other hand, some of our suffering is self-inflicted and can be avoided. In such situations, God still offers us peace as we muster the courage to make needed changes in our life.
God's forgiveness and loving acceptance can give us peace as we face all of our trials and sorrows. God's power can lead us through every difficult journey, for He has already overcome all the obstacles that stand in our way!

What this has to do with weight loss:  Each of us has "blown" our diet, sabotaged our progress, or set ourself up for failure. As a result, we suffer from a self-inflicted wound. What we must remind ourselves is that even though we can be our own worst enemy, God, our closest Friend, is able to help us make better choices the next time, if we will let Him.

Today, if you are experiencing a trial and sorrow, whether self-inflicted or not, place your trust in God and allow Him to minister to you. Place your hand in His. Enter into His hiding place, until you come out with a song. Listen to "You Are My Hiding Place."
