Hi everyone!  Posting for Mary today.  Our beloved sister is home and seems to be doing quite well.  Praise God!

Relational Devotion #17 [extravagant love]

John 12:1-3
"Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus--the man He had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with Him. Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping His feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance."

Mary's faith in Jesus and love for Him is a testimony to us all. Scripture records that she knelt in humble faith and love at Jesus' feet three times. Mary sat at Jesus' feet listening to His every word (Luke 10:39); she fell at His feet crying and seeking comfort (John 11:32); and here in John 12:1-3, she knelt to anoint Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, a sign of her extravagant love for Him. Jesus was first in Mary's heart, and she surrendered herself to Him.

What this has to do with weight loss:  The decision to surrender all we are and have to God is a crucial step in the weight-loss process and all that entails. When we surrender to Him, He will help us with our weight-loss problems, whatever they may be.

Today, decide how you can pour out your extravagant love for and to the Lord. Whatever that is, do it today. Listen to Shawna and Terry MacAlmon, as they sing "My God and King." [lyrics follow, if you'd like to sing your love]

My God and King
To You alone I sing
You're the face I see
For all eternity           [repeat]

Chorus:
You'd be my dream come true
Just to be with You
How I'd see brand new
With eyes for only You

My God and King
Through the storm I sing
Covered by Your wing
This song of love I bring

Chorus x 2
You are my dream come true
[rest of chorus; repeating final line 2 times more]
I have eyes for only You.

Blessings,
Mary
