Relational Devotion #12 [Mercy]
Hi, Everyone.
I love hearing from each of you, and I get so excited when I hear from a new reader. What a blessing are you all! I love to read about how God is speaking to you, too.
John 8:9-11
"When the accusers heard [Jesus say, 'The one who has never sinned throw the first stone!'], they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman [who had been caught in adultery]. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, 'Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?' 'No, Lord,' she said. And Jesus said, 'Neither do I. Go and sin no more.'"
Many of you know Chonda Pierce as a Christian comedian. I knew her as a kid, when she was Chonda Courtney. Her sister, Charlotta, was one of my best friends at summer camp in South Carolina. We traveled together as singers with The Ambassadors and were suitemates at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee. After college, we kept in touch, and when I was pregnant with my first child, Charlotta wanted me to have twins so I could give her one! I loved her like a sister. Through an accident, she went Home, 4th of July weekend, 1976, one month before the birth of my daughter.
At the Lord's direction, there is a story and song by Chonda Pierce that I'd like for you to listen to today. Chonda is "the real deal," and this story and song fit perfectly with today's scripture. Please listen to the story and "Mercy Saw Me," and know that the song is about YOU.
