I'm Home from Surgery-Really Need Prayer

Hi everyone,

I came home today from my Lap RNY surgery on Friday.  Everything went great except they scared my husband to death by keeping me in recovery for about 6 hours because my oxygen level wasn't getting up back up high enough.  (I slept through the whole thing so I wasn't concerned until I woke up and knew my family would be concerned.)

After that everything went so well I was truly amazed and grateful.  Right before I left the hospital I had diahrrea.  It has gone from bad to worse.  I really need prayer, I don't want to get dehydrated and end up back in the hospital.  I am sipping water and drank the shakes the way I was told to begin when I got home.  This started before I started the shakes.  It is pretty bad.  Everytime I stand up, I have to run to the toilet and don't always make it.  I am really a mess! 

Other than this, I am feeling quite well and amazed at how quickly I have gotten back to myself.

Your prayers will be so greatly appreciated.

Hi Kathi,
Congratulations on your surgery, and welcome to the Losers' Bench. 

I am sorry to hear about your diarhea.  I will pray for you.  I also would urge you to call your surgeon and inform him/her about it.  He/she may be able to prescribe something to help you with it.  My surgeon gave me his cell phone number the day I was discharged and instructed me to call if I had any concerns.  I just love him for that, because I did end up having a little trouble at one point.

Thanks, I will contact them first thing in the am.  I am staying hydrated so I don't have to go back in for IV fluids.

Actually, they have an excellent email system.  I will shoot off that email tonight so that if they get there before I get up, they can call me.

That was great of your surgeon to give you his cell number.

Already said prayer for you! Do follow up with the surgeon as he can hopefully give you a script for something, that has to be miserable!

Thanks for your prayers.  I am actually better today.  My bottom was so sore.  Diarrhea has stopped.  (Praise God!!) 

I knew that God's people would be my prayer warriors.  Thanks so much.  Please let me know if I can pray for you.

It's SO GOOD to hear from you. It sounds like you're doing well, despite the diarrhea. It may be something you were trying to catch before surgery. It may be your body giving you "what for" because it's just gone through major surgery. Whatever the reason, you should be fine, as long as you stay hydrated. You are absolutely right to contact your surgeon, in any event.
You are in my prayers and have been. My list just keeps getting longer and longer. :)  Remember to keep fear at bay, no matter what.
Keep sipping and walking. Rest in between.

I am doing so well.  God has really blessed me.  The diarrhea was quite a (messy/painful) trial, but that seems to be over now.  PRAISE GOD!! 

My mom's friend had this three years ago and said she couldn't sleep lying down for weeks.  I have been lying down since the first night.  I took pain meds at 6 am yesterday at the hospital, 5 or 6 pm at home (yesterday) and none since.  (It is really gross tasting, I have to weigh the nasty taste to the pain. Thus far, the pain has been tolerable.)  I am amazed at how well I am doing.  I slept in my own bed last night without too much discomfort.

Evidently the surgeon did not feel this was critical.  I have not heard back from them, yet.  I don't want to pursue it, since the Great Physician has healed me.

Mary,  I appreciate your prayers so much.  I guess your list keeps getting longer because you are such a prayer warrior.  I am so glad I have met you here.  I have been, and will continue to pray for your successful surgery.

I need to get moving and do some of that walking.  I have the sipping down fairly well (I am more of a gulper).  I have been moving, but not actually walking.

You sound wonderful! I knew God was going to quickly take care of that "messy trial." Keep working the program, walking and sipping (gulping is a thing of the past, now). God blesses obedience. :)
I don't know that I qualify for "prayer warrior," but I do know that praying for others is one of the joys in my life. It never ceases to amaze me that God allows us to partner with Him, in prayer.
Please keep me updated on your progress. Remember that even though you may feel great, you must continue to be careful. Watch the lifting, etc. Okay, I'll quit hovering. :)
