I have a serious question for everyone.
Has anyone had maintanece for a long period of time with a balanced meal plan of carbs and protien.

I keep hearing the only way to stay in maintence is to eat all protien and only 35g carbs a day.

I know I have to life a new life style, and to be honest I have had a hard time in certain areas, especially exercise.  I am in constant pain and cannot do much.  However, the bigger problem is this.

My husband and I have been out of work for a year, we just got our last unemployment check, we have NO income and are moving in with family as we lost our home.  I cannot afford to eat ALL PROTEIN right now, there is no way.  I am scared that if I eat what we have I will gain a bunch of weight back.
I would love some feedback on this.

God bless

Hi, Trish.
I was preparing to post the daily devotional, but I read your post first and wanted to reply. I am pre-op, so I don't have experience with maintenance, but I have some suggestions. There are cheaper forms of protein than protein shakes or steak. Look for chicken on sale, as well as other meats. Cheese, also, and eggs are usually pretty inexpensive. Even a thin slice of deli meat is pretty good protein and good for you, especially if it's lower fat.
I would encourage you to see what helps are available to you, in your current situation. Visit your local food bank, apply for government assistance. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Does your church body know about your situation?
Above all, ask God to help, to intervene in your situation, if you haven't already done so. If you have, believe Him to do a miracle. He will help you, with your finances and with your food. You are loved.
Blessings,
Mary

Don't forget that beans and lentils are excellent protein sources too and usually very inexpensive and you can throw in a small amount of meat for added protein. Like Mary said don't let pride keep you from applying for assistance that's what it is there for. You've paid into it and now feel free to draw from it. Good luck!

Thank you both, however, we called yesterday about making an appointment for assistance.  There are so many struggling right now they are no longer making appointments.  We have to go down on November 20th and pray we get in first.  I do not know what we will do until then.
