I ask that you pray for my son he has just been diagnoised with bipolar and we can't seem to get him the help he needs in school with his learning disabilities and he is wanting to drop out also pray for my husband john who needs salvation! I ask that you also pray for me as well i had RNY surgery on April 26 08 and the weight loss is very slow and hasn't helped my diabetes that much. God is good and he's still in the miracle working business i thank him for saving me and for the many blessings he bestows on me each and every day!!! Thank You GOD
Hi, Jeannie.
I know you didn't ask for advice, but as a former high school English teacher, I can say from experience that you must be proactive in your advocacy, to get help with your son's challenges. You know the old saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease," and that's true in this case. I encourage you to call the principal and ask for a 509 meeting (I think that's what we called it), to have her son's needs evaluated and an IEP set up for him. Don't settle for anything less than "Yes, Ma'am!"
I am going to be praying for all your requests. God heals! God saves! He will even regulate one's metabolism! I'm proof of that, praise God!
Rest in Him, my OH Friend.
Blessings,
Mary
Hey Jeannie, I certainly will pray for your family. Getting help in schools is often anywhere from a challenge for a full-out war. I have a child with autism (asperger's disorder), adhd, and kidney failure. I have battled every step of the way. He's now 10, the school works great with us, his teachers are wonderful, and things are getting better. In SC we have an advocacy group called Pro Parents, so I'm sure NC has something similar. Go to your state education website and look for exceptional children category. You'll be surprised at everything there. Here is the website for SC http://www.ed.sc.gov/agency/Standards-and-Learning/Exceptional-Children/
Maybe it will give you a start.
