Church Withdrawal

I think I realize why I am so dependent on this forum this summer. I am going through church withdrawal. I have not attended my church since the first week in June. I stay in touch via prayer chains and receiving the e-mail bulletins and stuff from the secretary. I work at a hospital on alternating weekends, and have been away on the off weekends. I am getting fed, because my church puts the sermon on iTunes, which I download to my iPod and listen to while I drive. I also listen to Dr. Stanley, as his messages are also on iTunes, but they have not uploaded his messages in weeks, so I am rather frustrated. I watch him on Sunday mornings before work, or wherever I am in my travels when possible, but like to hear his sermons again, as I also like listening to my pastor again. Still, the fellowship with the people is missing, and I feel it big time. That is why I post here as much as I can. Love you all, Trish

Hi, Trish. I know what you mean, about having church withdrawal. Right now, I am physically unable to get ready and go to church. I miss the fellowship, but I do listen to the sermon CDs, and I watch several services, etc. on television. I order a lot of CDs and DVDs, as well. My quiet time has become even more precious to me, at this time. The Lord is faithful, and even if I were marooned on some island, He would feed me His Word. One day, we won't have any distractions from our fellowship with Him and each other. I can only imagine. Blessings, Mary

That is so true! I 've had a couple of time in the last few years that because of health issues I have'nt been able to get to God's house and it does make you feel isolated. We don't always appreciate our fellow believers when they are around us, being human we are prone to taking things for granted. I always just feel more full of the Holy Spirit when I actually go and join fellow worshipers. I think we gain emotional strength in numbers. I've switched to a Sat. evening service and it makes it so much easier to get there since I need time for my pain meds to kick in in the AM it makes it hard to "pull myself together" on Sun. mornings. So this is working much better. Here's hoping you can get back to actually being able to attend church services again.
