I got a haircut yesterday that really boosted my spirits. I had not been to a stylist in many months and when she cut off a lot of the damaged ends, it just made my hair feel and look so healthy. It boosted my spirits and helped me stay focused on my health and well being the rest of the day. Sometimes vanity can take an evil turn, but I really like doing little things for ourselves every once in a while that just pamper ourselves because we are worth it!! I am going to focus today on being the vessel that God created and working to make it worthy of HIM! I realized that I wanted to look and feel good for me, not just for what I looked like to everyone else. It just boosted my spirits and I wanted to share that with you all. I'm happy today. That's a good way to start the day. Cindy

Hi, Cindy. I so agree! I feel that God is pleased when we take care of ourselves, in all ways. After all, we are His vessel. As long as we "don't think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think," we are living in good balance. With every goal we reach (every 5 lbs., for example), it is wonderful to give yourself a non-food reward. Why not? Stay happy, for "the joy of the Lord is your strength." Blessings, Mary

Cindy, I agree that it is nice to have a little pampering every now and then. Something I have learned in the last 8 months is that when I take the time to care about my body by making healthy choices and even the little pampering that it is a way to honor the vessel He gave us to dwell in here on earth. I know that I often feel so relaxed after getting a hair cut or on the rare occassion when I get a manicure/pedicure or massage. I hope that your day continues to be a happy one! God Bless, Nicole

It took me so many years to realize this! I always felt "guilty" if I wanted a haircut because I'd been to beauty school so just did it myself. One day I told my DH I just can't get this right so I'm going to the salon. He said go ahead I have to pay to get my haircut all the time there's no reason why you shouldn't too. Since then I go once a month or more often if I have a special event. I AM worth it!! Aren't we so silly sometimes?!

I too was a hairdresser for many yrs, now i dread getting my haircut. i do the bangs myself but then wait way too long to cut the rest. I have learned not to tell them i was a hairdresser, and seem to get better results. but i still dread having it done. I only go about 3-4 times a yr. i know, that's not often enough. lol. I have been contemplating a haircut for about a mth now, i need to just go and do it. And why do they style it in such strainge ways when they are done? lol. I just don't understand these hairdressers these days. We don't speak the same language anymore. lol.

Oh yeah, I never tell them I was a hairdresser or they want to compare notes. I don't know what language they speak but it's foreign to me too. Right before Easter I was killing time waiting for someone so thought I'll just pop into Great Clips and get a trim for Easter. My hair ended up literally 1/4" long. I looked like a punk rocker and at 57 years of age that's just wrong on EVERY level!! It took 3 mos. for it to grow long enough to go back to my regular gal. I'll never cheat on her again! Have a great weekend!

It seems like when i tell them i was a hairdresser, they get this aire of supiority, like they know more then I do. They just don't know how to listen to the client. Bugs me. There isn't anything hard about my haircut, it's just a long layer. But i do want it to blend, and they never seem to get it to blend right. And they always argue with me about the length of the layers that i want. I have VERY thick hair and it can handle serious layers and still stay long in the back. I just wish i could do it myself, but i can't. Oh well, it's only hair. lol.

On the issue of getting what you ask for in that salon...what is up with hairdresser's interpretation of 1 inch? I am convinced that they end up taking 2 because they are fixing the uneven mistakes? I hope you treat yourself to a great salon...you are worth it.
