I went to my surgeon which you would think would be easy and take about a day but no so in my case. My car broke down on Dec 31st and to make a long story short, I have been away from home(like 3 hours away) since then. I had no internet access while I was gone and boy am I glad to have it back!! Anyway, I went to my surgeon for my check-up which was 10 days shy of 8 months out. I have only had the sleeve and have to get the other part done so I figured that he would schedule it. I was wrong. He really wanted me to wait until about 18 months out or so because I am still losing weight at a good pace. The only problem is that I live in MO and my doctor in in Chicago (550 miles away)and my 2 kids ar in school and I have no family near so I need to do it in the summer. He agreed that it would be acceptable to do it in July (at about 14 months out). I do, however, have to go back in 3 months for a check-up to see how I am doing and if I am ready for surgery. Then there is the issue of complience(sp?). I have to be 1. excercising 2. eating all my protien 3. off soda 4. taking my vitamans every day. 5. drinking my water. Granted these are all things I should be doing anyway, but I am not doing them as well as I should, so its back to school and counting those grams of protein and writing everything down. All in all is was good. I have lost 128.3 lbs, 45% of my excess weight (his goal weight is different than the one here because it is pre-plastics) My BMI is down from 74.7 to 51.7. They did not do any blood tests-they will do all of that next time. Its good to be home though!!!

Amy, It is so good to have you back here. I am sure you will do fine with your compliance to the post-op lifestyle. I sometimes have days when I do not meet my protein goal. To get my water in, I carry a quart bottle of ice water around and drink that all day, then refill it and drink it again. Since my hernia surgery, I have not been too good with my exercise. Today, in PA, we are having glorious weather, so I am hoping to get a walk in. Do you belong to a gym? If not, I suggest you get the Leslie Sansome Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. They are low impact, good cardio workouts. She is a believer, and her walking workouts are easy, and good. AGain, welcome home. Hugs, Trish

I am going to start walking tomorrow. I have a 12 year old trainer (AKA my daughter) who keeps reminding me of this because she is walking with me. We are joining the Y next month. We have been members before, but I was unable to do much until the magic 300lb mark (I do not know why, but for me that is the magic number when I can move better w.o pain). I have not had a soda in 2 days-no water yet, but koolaid is a bit better than soda. I go grocery shopping Tuesday and I will buy gallons of water. I hate the tap kind here. Hugs-Amy
