Merry Christmas
When I think about what Christmas means to me, I am in awe that God would send His Son to earth to be born into such a lowly state, in a stable, among the farm animals. When I read the Gospels and see how the news of His birth was told to shepherds I wonder sometimes, what if Christ were born in 2007. With the Internet, and satellite television, how would the news of His birth be told to mankind?
Which makes me realize that I am not doing such a great job sharing the Good News among my peers, colleagues and friends. I have no excuse. Yet, I have been faithful this year in saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holiday."
So, as you celebrate Christ's birthday, I hope you are able to share the joy of God's Son being born so that we could experience eternal life. That is what it is all about. It's not about Nintendo Wii, or iPods, or Santa, or cookies, or wrapping paper, or charge cards, though they are not evil unto themselves. It's about a baby, born the same way most babies are born, but conceived in no way that other children are conceived. It's about God loving us so much, He let us experience eternal life by allowing His Son to be born, and then sacrificed.
I pray that you are able to reflect on the reality of Christmas in all the chaos of the season.
Merry Christmas.
Hugs and blessings,
Trish
That was beutiful Trish, so well said! And right now it's the hope that Christ child brought that is keeping us going with our recent tragedy. I shudder to think how we would survive without that blessed hope. Merry Christmas to you and your family, give that sweet grandaughter of yours lots of hugs!!!I pray that we all have a much better new year!
Trish,
You look beautiful BTW- I haven't been here in awhile and you look so happy in your avatar. I love what you said in your post. I actually saw a movie that depicted what it would be like if this would have happened today and it was quite interesting(the wise men arriving in Limos etc.)
I'm so glad that He came just for us. It says in the account of His birth in Luke 2 that he came as "a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel." I marvel that He came to show us the way as Gentiles-to reveal the glory of God Himself.
By now, all my presents have been unwrapped and my 2 children ages 12 and 5 are in bed. They got very few tangible gifts this year compared to most years because we decided that we were going to spend cash and not use credit. They were happy with what they got, but in reality they have so much more though than they had last year. Their father is saved. They go to a church that wants them to grow and sees such talent in my 12 year old daughter that they are going to train her in voice and teach her the keyboard so she can replace the pastor's daughter for the youth when she leaves in 2 years(my church has about 100 youth or so). They are doing this for free. I have been healed from depression and off of meds since June. I was 422 lbs last year and am now 295 and can play and love on them. The list goes on and on. I'm not bragging about any of this-I am bragging on Jesus because it is Him: his birth, death, and resurrection and God's grace that makes any of this possible. I love him so much. Thank you Trish for reminding me how much we have.
Hugs-Amy
