The Significance of Midnight At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. (Psalm 119:62) Midnight is the middle of the night, specially 12 o'clock. The word "midnight" is often used symbolically of a period resembling midnight when it is the darkest. It was at midnight that the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt. (Exodus 11:4; 12:29) Midnight is the dividing point between what has happened and what is about to happen. Therefore, we should rejoice when it is midnight because one minute later we are on our way to seeing a brand new day to experience new mercies. When you are awakened at midnight because of the cares of this world, do as the psalmist did: Rise to give God thanks. < Living Healthy Quiz 55 - Grammar Guidelines Rev.
