Tools of Your Trade "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:29-30) When God calls us into ministry, He transfers the skills we already have to use for His glory. If you are already a musician, surely God will allow music to be used in your ministry. As for me, it is writing. God makes sure I use my writing skills to serve Him. Paul was a tentmaker by trade. He used the tools of his trade to win souls. God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. (Acts 19:11-12) Paul used the handkerchiefs around his head and neck to wipe his sweat. His aprons were made with pockets to hold his hammer, nails, tent pegs and other items he needed in his business. Jesus was a carpenter by trade. From the time He was twelve years old until He was thirty, He worked in His father's carpentry shop. Making yokes for animals was His specialty. That's why He commanded, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:29-30) Jesus knew about yokes. After all, He made them. The yoke He made for you is easy and is a perfect fit so the two of you can walk together. Use the tools of your trade in ministry to bring glory to God and to help God's people. < Rev. Margaret Minnicks Director, The Way of Life www.the-way-of-life.org

Thanks for sharing this. I used to resist the idea of being in a yoke, as I did not want anyone leading me around. I have since learned that doing life my way is not such a good idea, as I tend to make a mess of my life when I run it by myself. Now, I am trying not to resist the yoke and follow the Lord's lead.
