The Summer Has Ended!
The Summer Has Ended!
The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved. (Jeremiah 8:20)
The above scripture is a metaphor about hopelessness. Grains were harvested from April to June, fruits were harvested at the end of the summer. If nothing had been stored up by then, it meant a lean, hard winter with little or no food. Death was sure to follow. This simply means that if you haven't done what you were supposed to do during the spring and summer seasons of your life, there is no need to expect enough to sustain you when winter comes.
During Jeremiah's day, God gave the people every opportunity to repent and follow Him. They continued in their idolatry and wicked ways. Now that the summer is over and nothing has changed, God says they will have a bad winter because of this. This scripture is a lament for missed opportunities and for not preparing in advance.
Hopefully, that is not the case with you. If you have planted and reaped previously, there is no need to worry. Since your spiritual seasons are not synchronized with the calendar seasons, there still might be time for you to plant, harvest and store up. But like the calendar seasons, your spiritual season will change as well.
Be ready for winter by preparing in advance.
