The power of WORDS!!

Hi everyone!!! I hope you had a restful, joyful, prosperous and peaceful weekend!!! Have any of you ever been around a conversation or involved in one that you knew you DID NOT need to be around?? Have you heard people say things to you or about you that were not true or that could potentially influence you in the wrong way. Example would be as a child, being called bad names, or have negative things said to you!! If repeatedly said to you or about you, what can happen? You eventually believe these things to be true, even though in reality they are NOT. How do you combat this? Our mind has to be renewed daily with Gods word, prayer and relationship with him to combat this and eventually to cause it to no longer affect us. Since we are on this journey of WLS, Another example is when people decide to tell you negative things about the surgery or about others who have went through and had complications or weight regain. Recently, I was at work and someone decided to discuss another coworkers health status and the fact they had WLS and automatically blamed her health issues on this. Well, myself being a preop and christian, could not hear this or tolerate it. I had to get away from the situation. I am trying to concentrate on being prepared for this surgery. I fully understand the risks and such. I was not in anyway in the place to be hearing this and physically had to walk away from this. I had to protect my mind!!! I am sure everyone has had this happen along this journey at some point and I have had to go to the scriptures and renew my mind daily so that I will be following God's will for my life and not what others opinions are. Its not that I don't take people's advice or listen to their concerns regarding this, but I need to protect my mind and heart so as I don't allow fear to get in. I want be in a place of peace and go into this surgery with this. Please read 2 Timothy 1:7 and Philipians 4:8. I encourge each of you to renew your mind daily!!! And know that God's will is being done in your life!! He has you on this journey for a purpose!! Don't let outside words/conversations influence you!!
