You Get What You Expect
You Get What You Expect
In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. (Psalm 5:3)
Expectation is a powerful force. You get exactly what you expect. If you expect your boss to be angry with you because of a mistake you made, he will be. If you expect your boss not to be angry, then he won't be. It is just that easy. We get what we expect to get; however, the principle of expectation does not discriminate between good and bad. If you expect good things to happen, they will. If you expect bad things to happen, they will! To get the best, expect the best.
Winners are those who expect to win. On the other hand, losers are those who expect to lose. God meets us at the point of our realistic expectation. If you use the power of expectation coupled with obedience, you'll experience ongoing victory and see the promises of God come to pass in every area of your life.
Expectation is a powerful force. Charles Dickens wrote a classic novel about "Great Expectations" that is taught in most high school literature courses. Jesus left His disciples with enough details to have expectations after His death. Paul admitted he "eagerly expected and hoped." (Romans 1:20)
Like David, the psalmist, we should pray expecting God to hear our prayers and also expecting God to answer our requests. (Psalm 5:3)
