Another Newbie here!
Hello all!
I am brand new to this site. I am here to learn more about the pros and cons of bariatric surgery as part of my decision making process. I want to make this decision with lots of prayer coupled with facts and logic. Hard combo to do! :-)
If you wouldn't mind telling me a bit about what your experience has been it will help me so very much. What surgery have you had? Was it successful? What were the good parts of it? The bad parts? How has life been after surgery? I will take any morsels of wisdom you can share.
I thank you all, in advance, for sharing your stories with me! I look forward to hearing from you all and getting to know you better.
Blessings,
Sarah
Good am Sarah,
Welcome to the board! If you like you can read our profiles by clicking on profile below our posts/replies. Some of us you may have to request to be added and others you may be able to view our profiles immediately. I am just over 4 1/2 years post-op so I've got a LONG "story." You've come to the right place for support and encouragement. Feel free to ask any questions or express concerns and such.
Take care

Hi Sarah,
I won't send yo to my profile. Between work, the board and my new and exciting life I don't have as much time to update it as I should. Lets see - I head a lap RNY on the 9th of Jan. so I am just a few days short 7 months. It took me about 2 years to get up the courage to actually go for surgery. I toyed with it for a few years, but finally after I gained another 50 lbs "dieting" I went for it. My husband was not totally on board, but now is a bit WLS supporter. He sees what a change it has made in his wife. You are smart to get facts before making a decision. Just remember that everyone is different and that is why God made vanilla and chocolate ice cream. I have lost about 120 lbs. I am about 30 lbs from my new goal weight - I keep changing it downward as I keep losing. My health has improved so much that I now work 2 jobs and take long walks up steep hills with my husband. My only real "complication" has been that I have lost some hair over the past month, but I can also see it coming back in. Thanking God for a full head of hair to start with. I went home the day after surgery. If I had been employed I probably would have returned to work by the end of the 2nd week. As long as you do the right things the process is pretty easy. I take my vitamins, drink or eat protein, get in my water and walk every day. Life is fab and I give God the glory. Hope this helps.
