New on this message board......need your prayers
Hello everybody,
I am so thrilled that I found this message board. I have been on the general forum every day, several times a day since last fall. I love OH, it has been such a blessing to me through my WLS journey. But how wonderful that there is a special one just for believers.
All that said, I really covet your prayers for my grandson. I won't go into details, but he has lived a very difficult life with his mother and step-father and younger half sister. He was diagnosed as ADD and ADHD and ODD when he was 4 years old. He has been on strong medications all his life, and has been verbally abused by both parents all his life. He lived with us for three years and we thought he was back on track. This last year, he has totalled two vehicles. No alcohol or drugs involved, but he fell asleep in the last one, and it is only a miracle that he survived it. Anyway, he is desperate for love and the human touch. We give that to him anytime we are with him or talk to him, but he met a girl who has had basically the same type of life as a youngster. Anyway, they have dated about a year, and he called us this week to tell us she is pregnant. He is almost 19, she is about to turn 17. Way too young to raise a child, but the deed is already done. Her parents are divorced and are NOT believers, and neither is she. They have scheduled an abortion for next Wednesday. Please help us pray that someone will be able to reach them and convince them to change their minds. Two wrongs are only going to make the situation worse. Abortion is murder. And she will have to live with that the rest of her life. PLEASE help us pray for a miracle.
I'll keep you posted.
Hi Judie,
That precious angel is my newborn granddaughter, Isabel Colleen. She is 7 weeks old, and is the love of my life. She lives in Michigan, so I don't get to see her too much, but I am enjoying her this week and next, as her parents are in town staying at my ex-husband's house.
I just spent the afternoon holding her and loving her at a family picnic.
BTW, I am a teacher, and I see ODD all the time. I also work part time in a psychiatric hospital, where a lot of our children and adolescents are diagnosed with ODD, along with other behavioral diagnoses.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Trish
Judie,
What a heartbreaking challenge for you. First of all, welcome to our forum. We are happy to have you here and very happy to offer prayers for your grandson and for you as well. How difficult it must be to know there is not much you can do. I really do pray that they do not go through with the abortion. It is something that haunts you for the rest of your life especially for this young woman. Peace and blessings to you and your family ~ Terisa
Welcome to the board and I will pray for the pregnancy situation. Our granddaughter who lived with us last year also had a horrible childhood and got mixed up with meth. Praise God she is clean and sober over a year now. She too came to us at 17 saying she was pregnant, but her response was "and I'm keeping my baby!!" She did just that and is a wonderful mother and lives with baby's daddy(not ideal) but at least they are both accepting the responsiblity and are great parents. This will affect not just them but all the relatives too. I can't even imagine not having our precious little great grand daughter on this earth. All babies are blessings even if they are given up for adoption, but abortion is so final. I pray they will change their minds and bless someone else with this precious life who can take care of it. Karen
Hi Karen, and thanks for sharing with me. And for your prayers. We also have an 18 year old granddaughter who was born out of wedlock when my daughter was 17. She is one of the loves of my life (I have three other grandchildren! LOL) She lived with us until she was four years old when her mom and her dad finally married. It wasn't easy for sure, but definitely worth the sacrifice. When I think of this baby they are about to kill, I can't help but wonder if it would be another just like her.
Thanks again for your prayers. And God Bless you and your family,
JudieB
Hi Judie and welcome. Prayers are coming your way. There are many challenges and lessons taught and learned in our lives and we want to see others do well in their lives and follow the ways of Jesus but we have to remember that we all have choices. We have to do lots of knee-mail and ask God for guidance and support in these times. They are young and now must deal with the consequences of their actions. We ARE believers and our prayers will be heard. We have to believe that God will move them to make good choices. Miracles do happen...so lots of prayers coming you and your family's way.
Take care,
Kat
