PRAYER REQUEST PLEASE
Hey everyone,
I really need your prayers. I am a little over two weeks out to surgery and I am still struggling with smoking. I need to put these cigarettes down tomorrow for good, and my husband is making things really difficult. He is still smoking in the bedroom and he is working from home the rest of the week. How am I supposedt do this with it right in front of my face.
I need serious intervention throgh prayer. I actually went to church Sunday, to my old church and it felt so good, to see my old family. Now I am even more determined to make a family at my new church.
It just felt good to take a step toward Christ for once instead of fighting him and myself. Surrender brings such peace you know.
I am so grateful you are all here. may the Lord bless each of you.
Trish
I've told you before that I used to smoke so I'll definately be praying for you. Is there anyone in your church family that can be there for you to call or talk to. I know you aren't the only one dealing with this. Is your husband maybe doing this to keep you from having the surgery? If I remember right he wasn't being too supportive of it, tho I could be wrong. It's so important to stop before the surgery because it can make you more prone to getting pneumonia and other lung difficulties. If you can even cut way back it'll help. Are you able to go outside and take a short walk to distract you from smoking. I took up all kinds of needlework and crocheting to keep my mind off smoking. Maybe read a book or get some puzzle booklets from the store anything that will break that thought process for a few minutes till the craving goes down. As long as you're still trying you're headed the right direction. Keep us up on how you are doing the next few weeks. Prayers are on the way. Karen
Trish,
I will be praying for you. My only suggestion would be trying the patch, or nicorette gum to help you. It would at least allow your lungs to heal some, while dealing with the nicotine craving.
It does sound like your husband is trying to sabotage your surgery, and that is really rough. Keep praying and clinging to the Lord. Remember what scripture says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Hugs,
Trish

Trish,
You can make it.
He'll guide the boat, but you have to do the rowing. It's hard, but doable.
I pray you are washed with his peace as your day draws closer. Talk to your husband and ask for more hugs this week. That'll keep him smoking less and keep you feeling more love.
The strength of a family church is so powerful. They can be the physical presence of the lord for you and yours.
