Hello all, I just have a question that dawned on me during communion this morning. Can we still partake of the bread and juice after the surgery? Seems to me it would "gum up the works". Will I just have to skip it after surgery? Curious how you've all dealt with this. Karen

Once I was on solid foods, I returned to taking communion. Juice is allowed for me, and the cracker is so miniscule in size, it appears to be of little consequence. I eat crackers normally on occassion, though not often. If you are uncertain, you may want to ask your surgeon. Hugs, Trish

Thanks Tri**** was just one of those things I never would have thought about. It would be nice to continue doing, but of course I'll check with the surgeon first. The poor man may have to put a block on my calls as I have a feeling there will be very many. Karen

My surgeon actually gives out his cell phone number to his patients on discharge from the hospital. He is so patient and kind about the calls too. Don't worry about calling your doctor with questions. He would rather you ask than make a mistake and pay for it medically later. Hugs, Trish

HI Karen - no problem at all yesterday, however I am 4 months now. When I was about 6 weeks I was scared, but when my turn came I just took the smallest of pieces of bread and really allowed myself to disolve it in my mouth. During that time I was allowed the grace to really pray about what my Savior had done for me. Probably my most meaningful communion in years. - Sally

When I finally got up the nerve to try it I prayed about it. I took a cup with a little less juice in it and added some water to it. I don't add the water any more and have never gotten sick from communion ~only blessed

Thanks Annette, that seems to be the general feeling I've gotten from everyone. It' so important that I really didn't want to give it up. Just have to take it easy for awhile during the healing process. Karen
