Grateful to God for a praying mom......
What is the best thing you remember about your mom?
There are many things that I am grateful to God for, but certainly, being born to a Christian mom ranks high on that list. We lived about three blocks from the elementary school in our community so my brother and I were "walkers". Every morning mother prayed with us just before we walked out the front door for school. Even if we were running late (which was seldom) we knew we would still have those minutes of prayer at the front door. My dad worked the third shift most of the time but when he wasn't working, he joined us. I remember later when my oldest daughter ran a really high fever..(104+)...mom went to her room, kneeled and prayed. Lesley's fever broke.
My mother lived with us for 18 years and many times, I would see her light on in the early hours of the morning and know she was praying......Although in heaven now....I know she is still my prayer warrior.
I want to be that kind of faithful prayer warrier for my kids and grandkids......

I wish my Mom had that kind of faith. My mom suffered from mental illness, and what I learned from her was survival. Her life was riddled with sexual abuse as a young girl, and then emotional abuse from her mother. Through it all, she was determined that her children would never want for the basic necessitites of life. She is a survivor. She is now 80 years old, and even though she buried her youngest child in October, she is looking forward to meeting her first great-grandchild in June, when my daughter gives birth.
I really had bitterness for my mom for a long time because I was abused by my step-father for 12 years and she didn't/couldn't protect me from it. God gave me peace with her and my step-father in a miraculous instant and now she and I are good friends.
Though my childhood was difficult, it was my mother who took me to church and allowed me to be where I could gain a foundation of bible principles and values for my present faith. My mom was always the example of what a good woman looked like. She lived according to Biblical principals and even though my step-father was not in church she made sure we were always there. I guess my best memories are of Easter Sundays. There were 5 of us girls stairstepped 2 years apart. My mom would sew us all beautifull Easter dresses and bought us Easter bonnets. We would then all get photographed together and go to church.
Much later she also was the person who God used to begin bringing me back to Christ. She prayed constantly for my salvation. I had been living in the world for 12 years and she gave me a book called "The Purpose Driven Life" I had never heard of it but I knew mom was trying to push religion back on me-that was my attitude at the time. I took the book home and laid it on the table. about a month later I decided to check it out. I recommitted my life to God right in my living room and have had a awesome relationship with Him leading me from glory to glory since then. That was two years ago.
You are right-Thank God for a praying mom!!
