Pray for my decision
Hi Everyone,
I don't think I have ever posted on this forum before, but have read your posts. You all seem like a very caring group. I am a christian and am seeking Gods will for my weight loss surgery.(is this the right surgery for me? Have I picked the right surgeon, is it safe for me to have surgery, etc?) I have talked to my surgeon and am considering Vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I have also considered lapband, but am self pay, so I don't want to have alot of maintance costs. I wanted to ask everyone to pray I make the right decision. I currently weigh almost 300 lbs. I lost 200lbs 2003-2005, but sadly have relapsed and have gained back over half of it. I feel like I need to have surgery to save my life, but I am also afraid of the risks. I have two daughters with Downs syndrome who depend on me. I want to be here for them. I have some health problems that could make the surgery more risky, but if I keep gaining weight that is also a risk. Thankyou, Deb
Hi and welcome!!
I will pray for you. I do not know where you are getting your surgery, but I have heard that there are some wonderful doctors outside the country that many go to if they are self-pay. You can get the surgery for like 1/3 of the cost. I know the there is one in Brazil that people rave about on the DS board. You really should check that board out too-there are a lot of great people there .hugs amy
Hi Ded,
God doesn't answer prayer with a booming voice out of Heaven. He usually answers us through people and cir****tance.
Four years ago, I went for an RNY, and prayed that if it was God's will that He would prevent it from happening. I went through all the pre-op testing, went into the hospital, into the operating rooms and they put me to sleep. I woke up in recovery and found out they had to abort the procedure because I had an arythemia, even though there is nothing wrong with my heart.
Three years later, I again went through all the testing again for Lap Band Surgery, wenht into the hospital, went into the operatin room and was put to sleep. I woke up in recovery, and found out that even though I had an arythmia, it was a harmless type this time, and the surgery went off with-out a hitch. There is no doubt in my mind that the first procedure was aborted because of devine intevention.
I hope that this may give you a little insite into how God works and how He is faithful to answer prayer. Good luck to you and be blessed!
