Pat, it has been a while but I do remember my doc telling me when we do eat lettuce, or any salad, to be sure to chew, chew, chew. They told me that if it isn't chewed up good enough, it can lay across our stoma and cause problems. I don't really remember when I started eating salad but I do remember I did chew really good. Shel

I had surgery April 25, 06 and had my first salad in August. I chew chew chew and still some peices will not chew up so I discreetly place in napkin rather than swallow. Above listen to when your surgeon or nutritionist tells you. Mine said after 8 weeks but I couldn't until August. In Christ, Joan M

I think I started eating salad about 4 months post op. My favorite salad today is Red Lobster's house salad with the tiny boiled shrimp....that and a cup of clam chowder is my perfect meal. Sometimes you may feel like you are in a diet rut and wonder if it will ever get better....trust me....it will. God bless you as you continue on the path He is directing for you... luvitsunnyv
