Last night we had a guest speaker at church - the tour guide we use when we go to Israel. She's an incredible jewish woman who lives with her family in Jerusalem. You know, we are charged to minister to the jews. In Romans 15:26-27, Paul states that it's our duty to minister unto them in "carnal" things. "Carnal" in this text mean literally, financially.
Romans 15:26-27
26For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
27It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
I can't tell you how delighted I am to say that my husband and I are committed to go to Israel in March of 07. Israels biggest source of income is tourism, and with the war, that's dropped off, and people are suffering. Praise the Lord that He is faithful and that they are His chosen people! I went to Israel in May of 2005, but I couldn't do everything because of my weight. Also, my husband and I were separated and he wouldn't go with me. God has restored my health and my marriage and I look forward to celebrating that especially there in the Holy Land!
Psalm 122
1I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
2Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
3Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
4Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.
5For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
Please pray for Israel. Pray that they will have peace there - knowing that as we pray that, we are praying for the Lord's return. Please pray for His mercy & grace today for all of us - especially those who are not walking with him.
Thanks everyone. ~Carolyn
My husband and I went to Israel in 1996....It's rather odd....we really had no desire to go to Israel, but our church was sponsoring its ministers financially so we took advantage of the 2 week opportunity. Wow....it was the highlight of our lives. I would go back tomorrow in a heartbeat.
As a child, I listened to my evangelist grandfather and I remember him emphatically saying we need to pray for the peace among the Jewish people and nation. Over my life, I have tried to honor God's chosen people with my prayers.
God bless...
I know! I was kind of interested and excited to go last year, and it was the trip of my lifetime! I loved it. Your Grandfather must have loved the Lord a lot. That's very cool! My Grandfather did also - quietly and gently. He was a doctor and one of the greatest men to ever live! Take care & God bless you too! - Carolyn
Carolyn,
I know that any time I have stepped out in obedience to the Lord and done His work for His kingdom, I have been blessed beyond measure. I am sure you will find this to be true for you and your husband as well. I will pray for you and your husband at this time as you prepare. Remember that the enemy wants to kill, steal and destroy your testimony, so don't let him.
Hugs,
Trish
Carolyn, what a testimony of the Lord's saving power....from bondage in the weight to being set free, from a lost marriage to a totally restored marriage, He is good and His mercies are from everlasting to everlasting. Yes, His Word says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Jesus is coming back to take us home and to set things right and He will not be returing as a meek Lamb but as the King Enthroned! Praise Him for He is Holy and He shall reign forever more!!!!
Please pray for my brother's and sister's in Baltimore as we minister them Jesus' love...Only one brother has invited the Lord in but He isn't walking a surrendered life, and one sister prayed the sinner prayer years ago but no fruit there either. My heart aches for their salvation and when I got saved 21 years ago I know the Lord gave me the scripture "her and her household were saved" and I am trusting the Lord for their salvation...pray for their hearts of stone to be made hearts of flesh so they can receive and have understanding of their need for The Savior and for them to see that He loves them....praying His chords of lovingkindness will draw them unto Him.
Thanks my prayer warrior friend.
In His love and grace,
Joni McDonagh
