It shouldn't have shifted. Mine never moved. What ruined it though was radiation with a full expander in. The skin was so thin, it stretched and opened up so I had to have the expander out and can never try to stretch that skin again.

Talk to your oncologist about evening primrose oil. My oncologist suggested it to me while on tamoxifen and it seemed to help reduce the hot flushes - it may have been co-incidental, but may be worth trying if your oncologist agrees.

Topic: RE: Thyroid Cancer??
Thyroid cancer is a disease that occurs when abnormal cells begin to grow in the thyroid gland, which is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located in the front of your neck. The thyroid gland makes hormones that regulate the way your body uses energy and help your body function normally. Thyroid cancer is a rare type of cancer. Most people who have it do very well, because thyroid cancer is usually found early and treated effectively.

Topic: RE: Cancer in colon, liver and lungs...5 years post op

Hello,

I have different cancers (skin, breast) and the VSG so as you probably realize totally different situation medically speaking. However, my oncologist made it crystal clear that the very best thing I did for myself was to lose the weight, as that significanltly dropped my risk. With that said, I am very careful now to eat a very nutritionaly conscious diet and ensure that I routinely eat my fiber, veggies, protein, etc. will minimizing sugar and processed crap. So far so good :)  I also had a double mastectomy to help the odds, so in short I am a big proponet of as much preventitive care as possible.

If you are concerned about your kidneys, get a urine test done. They will know immediately if you have a kidney problem. As for the sickle trait, I am a student who studies biology and having joint pain is extremely common with people with sickle shaped blood cells as they block the normal blood cells from passing through veins and capillaries.

You cannot prevent breast cancer, or any cancer. You claim to be a surgeon, but it becomes harder to believe with every nonsense answer you give. If you are a doctor it must be in some third world country where just about anyone with enough money can be a doctor.
How dare you state, “it is frustrating that most women still do not take proper care towards protecting them from this dreadful condition.” Women, or men, do not do a damn thing to get this disease.

Topic: RE: stomach cancer

Stomach cancer is cancer that occurs in the stomach — the muscular sac located in the upper middle of your abdomen, just below your ribs. Your stomach receives and holds the food you eat and then helps to break down and digest it.

Another term for stomach cancer is gastric cancer. These two terms most often refer to stomach cancer that begins in the mucus-producing cells on the inside lining of the stomach (adenocarcinoma). Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of stomach cancer.

Stomach cancer is uncommon in the United States, and the number of people diagnosed with the disease each year is declining. Stomach cancer is much more common in other areas of the world, particularly China and Japan.

Topic: RE: Lap Band & Chemo

The LaparoscopicBAND (also known as adjustable gastric banding or lap-band) is a breakthrough bariatric (weight-loss) procedure, designed to be safe, effective, and long-term. The band helps retrain you to eat smart, encouraging loss of most of your excess weight at a healthy pace and helping you keep it off, permanently. It is fully adjustable, which means that the level of restriction is set to your individual needs. It is also the only reversible weight loss surgery option available today.

It really depends on the location, presentaton and cir****tances surrounding the diagnosis. For example, if it is incidentally discovered with apendicitis - carcinoid of the appendix- surgical resection may be all that is needed. In other organ systems, the treatments vary along a broad range.

If you or a friend has this diagnosis, it is the physicians sworn duty to help you understand the disease and its treatment as it relates to the specific situation. Don't let docs forget that.

Topic: RE: Hard lump lower abdomen

It sounds as though it could have to do with your intestines. They wrap around so and so and are very long (it would amaze and surprise you to find out about the length). Sometimes, they get misconfigured (for lack of a better word) and cause problems. Appendicitis is one problem.

I would suggest going to a reputable doctor to have it diagnosed. Just make sure the doctor is knowledgeable in that area. It will relieve your fear and possibly avoid any future annoyances with it.

If it is a slight abnormality and not causing pain, don't worry about it. Look at it that you are unique.
