Topic: Anyone with reconstruction after mammosite radiation?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. I had a lumpectomy and mammosite radiation. I also eventually had 3 more biopsies, 2 in the original cancer breast and one in the other. I am very uneven now and am finally ready to have some reconstruction on my breasts after my 134 lb weight loss.
The question is...has anyone else had a breast life and augmentation after mammosite? I have seen 4 different plastic surgeons. Three of them barely spent 10 minutes talking to me. The one who spent a LOT of time with me is wanting to be VERY conservative about lifting the breast. He will do an augmentation, but seems very hesitant about wanting to do any more cutting. He is worried about healing after mammosite. He also happens to not be familiar with the mammosite, since he is in a different town and hospital from where the mammosite was done.
I really like this doctor, but am afraid I may not end up with the results I want. Has any one else dealt with this same issue? Was your plastic surgeon concerned with healing issues?
Right now I have a surgery date of Nov. 20. I am second guessing myself. Thank you for your help. This is weighing heavily on my mind!

Hi - I don't know if you'll still be checking back here this much later, but I'm visiting here for the first time and saw your post. Hopefully the oncologist you were referred to has cleared you of anything malignant, but your symptoms are very typical of Lymphoma, both Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins. Both are very treatable, so don't panic! But if for some reason you haven't seen an oncologist by now, I'd urge you to do so.
Best wishes,
Laura

Topic: RE: cancer after weight loss...please read and advice
I had the lap band done in November of 2007 and wound up with having to have my gallbladder out in October of 2008. They removed the fluid from my band and I started the filling process all over again. I was almost at my sweet spot when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer Stage I. I had a total hysterectomy on l0/ 2009 with the DaVinci robot. The good news was that there were no lymph nodes involved and that I wouldn't need chemo or radiation. The bad news was that the tube to my lap band was severed during surgery and I will have to undergo surgery to have it reconnected. I have been gaining weight back and can't wait to have my band working again so that I can use it to lose weight. I still have far to go.
I wish you good luck with your treatment. You have lost a lot of weight and your job now is to keep yourself strong in mind and spirit to be there for yourself and your family. They will love you whether you are fat or thin. I am hoping you got good news from your doctor.

Hi,
You must not take this lightly. Remember "Prevention is better than Cure". Ask for some surgeon suggestion from your friends, relatives or here in forums.

Hi,
Putting weight before surgery is totally depends on your surgeon advice.
Putting weight before surgery is totally depends on your surgeon advice.
When a person is overweight, his kidneys must work harder to function. Over time, they begin to become less resilient. In fact, some overweight individuals may experience renal failure.
But also the operation cause in weight loss.
So, always consult your surgeon.
Thanks

Hi ,
My name is Beth , I also just had cancer surgery on 8/10/09 , very scary I know , I did have the itching and well mine was kinda different I guess , It was in the inner lining of my vaginal area , started off as a lump and with me scraching made into a sore , so I finally went to the doctor and that what they told me , So anyway I think teh doctor got it all , I hope and pray .
My prayers and thoughs are with you and your family . Try to stay focused and busy if you feel like it. I just remeber not wanting to set inside my house , I was so depressed and if I would go to my moms and just set there untill I had to take my kids home for bed and then that would get me through that day. My husband works nights, it was a very lonly and scary time. But you will and can get through this . just dont take NO for an answer and feel free to e-mail if you need to .
I am also post WLS but about 6 yrs now , I had a LAP/RNY , It was successful but I have gained some of my weight back and would like yo have a revision some day and have lots of nasty loose skin also. Okay well believe in the power of prayer . You will be in mine .

What would happen if you got stomach cancer after you had the rny done. Would there be no hope because the stomach is so small. Just trying to cover all the bases before I make my final decision on rny or lapband
Any info would be great
