I had RNY 01/09, breast reduction 8/09 Just got news I have Invasive Breast Cancer last week. I go in on Thursday to find out what the game plan is now.
In 2008 I had both breast removed, went through chemo and radiation. Now I am going to do wls RNY this month. I am hoping that they will be able to do a trans flap with implants after I loose all this weight. Just implants is not an option since I have radiation damage. Has anyone went through this?
Thanks
Mona
I pray everything is okay with you. I had triple negative breast cancer in 2008 and going in for RNY this month. I'm sorry I can not answer your question. Please let me know how you do with everything and the results. I will be praying for you.
Take care

One would realize how dangerous smoking is if he learns that smoking is the major cause of cancer in the world. Smoking is known to be responsible for deaths of five times the people killed in road accidents, overdoses, murder, suicide and HIV all put together.
Smokers are highly susceptible to cancers because cigarettes contain 80 cancer causing substances. The smoke inhaled while smoking carries these dangerous chemicals into the body. The more you smoke the greater is the amount of poisonous substances delivered into the body. Research has shown that the chemicals change the DNA composition and affect important genes causing cells to multiply and grow out of proportion causing cancer.
Quitting smoking decreases the chances of developing cancer. Chain smokers can also decrease their chances of cancer by quitting as soon as possible. It is better late than never.

I opted for a lumpectomy and sentinal limphnode biopsy. I had chemo and radiation. I found that nausea was a problem so like others have said be preventative! I was very cold and brought a couple of sweaters with me when I went for treatment.
Packing a bag to take is a wonderful idea! I always made sure I had hard candy to suck on as the treatment made my mouth taste very metalic. For me the worst part was the fatigue!
Does your city have any cancer programs? I'm in Canada and my city has lots of support programs. They served me well. One even helped me get a couple of wigs for free! (I now keep my hair {which came back in curly} short so I can still wear them!
I had an issue with vomitting the first couple of times so they changed my pre-treatment meds They addressed my WLS by having the dietition help me with extra ways to add protien to my diet. I found that I was not hungry and went back to my protien drinks but doubled up on the amount of powder per drink. This helped alot,
They will monitor you closely so if you loose to much they will help you out. I dropped 13 lbs the first week! The changes the dietition suggested slowed my weightloss back to normal. as I was still in the loosing part of my journey,
Remember to ask lots of questions if you don't understand anything at all Just take the time to listen to your body and you can't go wrong.
Hang in there! Sending good thoughts your way!
Susan
I think they are as I am scheduled for 90 minutes today. I hope I am completely out for this, I am pretty nervous both of the ultrasound as well as the results.
