Oncologist are great, but this is not his specialty. And if you notice, they are on high alert :) which is good, but when it comes to bareatric surgery let the surgeon decide.  Good luck to you! Stay calm, it will be fine.

Thank you so much Carleneyy!

I do plan to get a second opinion - my only problem that was my oncolgists opinion but I think it's based on his views rather than actual medical concerns.

Thank you so much I will keep everyone posted.

Best of luck to you and I sincerely hope you are cancer free!!!

Topic: Something to try
I have been hearing a lot about B17 and food grade Hydrogen peroxide, from a program I listen to on the radio. I guess B17 if ingested every day will prevent cancer, but you need to take it every day. Do Internet searches on it. I just order some. It is pricey but so worth that extra protection we all need.  I also ordered the food grade hydrogen peroxide. We need to keep our bodies pH balanced.

Hi there, I would get a second opion, before I would give up hope.  You must have a ton of scar tissue, I have a bunch of scar tissue from being cut half way open due to my cancer problem & I wasen't told I can't have it. I would just ask another Dr.

Hello all,

Six months ago I have an abdomenal turmor removed.  I have had a CT scan and MRI since.  While the Cancer is gone (and I am very thankful for that) my surgeon says that I can't have the Sleeve surgury because there is way too much scar tissue in my abdonmen.  I am devistated to here that! I was so hoping that I would get the you're clear now I can have the surgery that I so desperately want and trulthfully need.  Can anyone help me - are there any other options out there for me?  I am a single mother of four beautiful children and I have over come cancer but I need to be healthy for them!  If this comes back I want to know I am physically healthy enough to put up a good fight!  Please if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!!  It's truly appreciated!
Hello All,
I am hoping to get surgery but not sure which route to go Sleeve or by-pass or balloon???  Would you mind sharing your experiences to help educate me so that i can make the right decision.  I am a cancer survivor (35 yrs old) and waiting to here if cancer has spread (thus the reason I am not able to proceed right away with the surgery, I need to lose 120 lbs and would like some information as I have heard some surgeries are better for more weight loss then others.  I have gotten through so much and need to do this for myself and my family.  Thank you so much!

Carla,
I had lumpectomy for triple negative breast cancer in Feb 2009.  After I had chemo and radiation.  I was determined to get healthier and have wls. I had vsg in June 2010.  I still meet with oncologist and got her opinion about surgery.  As I have somewhat lopsided breasts, once I am happy with the amount of weight loss, i will get referral to plastics that will be covered by my insurance.  My breasts are hanging and fleshy--I look forward to getting the young perky look if there is an advantage to having cancer.

Do what you are doing, get advice. talk to drs.  talk to oncologist and make the decision that seems right for you.  Personally, I would wait until you lose the wait to have the breast reconstruction--your body will change!

I too was getting mammogram after being referred to the wls classes.  Had lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and hung in there. Had vsg done in June.  Feeling great, healthier and exercising.  I'd like to get these hanging breasts done eventually.  I have unfortunately tree trunk legs.  All good though.  Just keep the cancer at bay. Don't know that I could handle a repeat.

Topic: RE: RYN vs. VSG for long-term cancer patient
My journey is somewhat similar to your.  I was accepted to go to bariatric classes and during my routine mammogram-breast cancer was found.  It was triple negative in nature, so I had surgery, chemo and radiation.  I was still focused on getting healthy and losing weight for me.  I thought for me, it was best that I have vsg over rny if I had to go through chemo again.  I needed the nutrition to survive the chemo.  I did have vsg on June 21, 2010. I have lost 70 lbs which is slow to me compared with other folks but I feel good, healthier, exercising.  Losing the weight has given me a new lease on life.  I wonder if I had rny would I be losing more.  would it be less of a struggle? All I call tell you make the decision that your gut tells you to. Either one, you still have to work it.  I am very happy I had the surgery and hope to lose more.  Don't let cancer or threat of cancer stand in your way of living.
