Did you ever have your breasts ultrasounded??? If not, ask your Dr. to put in a order for that. When I thought I had a supeccious lump thats the first thing they wanted to do. Best of luck. I know it must be nerve racking!

Topic: RE: Chemo curls
Yes survivors do rock!!!! yeah I still have my curls and its been 1 1/2 years since treatment. I also am growing my hair out. I notice that if i just wa**** and do nothing to it it is very wavy. The top part id more curly. I usually use a scrunch spray and scrunch my hair to have more defined curls. It is beginning to grow on me and I am liking the curls. Still sad that my blonde hair is gone but I had blonde highlights put in, they are very subtle but I think I will get more highlights for summer. Funny what chemo does to our hair. When I was on chemo I lost all of my hair including body hair. Now my eyelashes came back but they are very short and thin - I hate them. And they are still blonde, go figure. My hair on my head came back brown. I wish my eyelashes had come back brown so that I wouldn't have to wear mascara. I also have very little underarm hair and I no longer have to shave my legs. My hair is also a different texture. It is very thick and somewhat coarse. It used to be very fine and silky. I am glad to have hair though. I had uterine and ovarian cancer and am just happy to be alive. Hoping to have RNY next month.

Topic: RE: Lymphnodes gone - "batwing" removal OK?
I to am a survivor, I had the sentinel lymph node biopsy and am having plastics in 6 weeks. The surgeon has not said anything about an increased risk of lymphedema. It is something that I will put on my list of things to ask him when I contact him next week.
I'll let you know what he says, if you haven't got another answer by that time.

That's the whole reason I am having the surgery.  I am eliminating one of the factors for cancer recurrence.  I tried to get a full hysterectomy but my oncologist said it's too early & there would be too many side effects from that & it would outweigh the benefits.  I don't think the surgery is the culprit, I feel like if it was in there to begin with the surgery wasn't the culprit.

Topic: RE: Chemo curls
I am just over a year and a half since my chemo & I still have the curls too.  Mine didn't come in a different colour, except for the white baby hair that i had to cut first.  Then it was my regular colour with lots of grey!  I hear that the curls can go away as our hair gets longer.  Most of us want to grow it so we end up losing it.  I still have the curls, it looks good when you first style it, but then it doesn't last long.  I had left-sided breast cancer.

SURVIVORS ROCK!!!!!!!

If one is a breast cancer survivor, and had underarm lymphnodes removed during the cancer surgery, can they later have the excess upper arm skin removal surgery? Is it done? Can having this elective surgery  increase your chances of developing lymphedema? Anyone know?

Think of community oncologists as the primary care physicians of the cancer world. It's a good place to start, but if you are close to an academic hospital, you may be in better hands.

As someone who has had much experience with blood cancers, you need to be in the hand of an oncologist who deals with blood cancers only-preferably one who deals with the one IF you have one.

Topic: remnant stomach (the "Old Stomach")
I am post op Gastric By passs revison 2 years. I am having some issues with distended fluid fill remnant stomach . I have had a G tube in place since 2/1/2011 , My question is what are complications to this, and what function does the "old stomach" really have; and what kind of quality of life does one have if they have to remove the "old stomach". I have been on this internet for the last 3 weeks trying to research all this and it is driving me crazy.
