Topic: RE: Chemo curls
I just finished chemo in September (Yeah!!!), I have the chemo curls really bad. But I am rocking natural, as most African Americans are opting to do now. But I do experience the dryness as the day goes on, as noted in a previous reply.

Topic: Papilary thyroid cancer Pill or liquid radiation treatment?
I had Rny 3 years ago. All is well with that.
I had my thyroid removed and 4 lymph nodes in my neck October 2011 because of Papilary /folicular cancer .  I have to have the radiation treatment and was wondering if anyone has information  or gone throug this . Wondering which type of  radiation treatment  is best ,liquid or pill form becauase of the absorbtion problems we can have? My Gastro and Oncology  Doctors said they -THINK- it's ok to do the pill... both said they have never treated a RNY patient with  this type cancer. I cant find anything on line... Studies ect and  "I think it's ok" from my Doctors just does not sit well with me. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Topic: Need opinions on weight loss surgery after a total thyroidectomy
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had a total  thyroidectomy 6 years ago. My weight wasn't ever really bad before my surgery but I gained 100 lbs after :( then I had my third child and a miscarrage.... needless to say my weight isn't something I feel I can control anymore. I can diet and lose 20-35 lbs but it's a huge struggle. I wanted to see what surgery others have had and hear of your experience after having a total  thyroidectomy . I want the good the bad and the ugly. I was a size 10 before all of this and I'm done with size 22.... I want my life back.

 Hi Judy,

Have you looked online to see if there is a forum dedicated to stomach cancer patients?  When I was first diagnosed with skin cancer I found cancerforums.net.  They were great about answering some questions, and that is where I found out about  a Mohs surgeon.  I don't know much about stomach cancer, just a partial gastrectomy (sleeve surgery).  Sending good karma your way!

That's sort of the way I felt, too.  Funny how one thing leads to another, often completely unexpected.
Since that time (a little more than a year and half) I've kept regular 6 month appointments with an oncologist.  He had me get CT scans for a while, but after three with no indications he's going to let me skip the scan for my February appointment.  Just blood work.
Good luck to you, both with your weight loss and your lack of cancer.  Happy New Year, too.

I had a similar experience.  I had sleeve surgery on 12/27/11.  While inside the surgeon discoverd a 1 cm leasion on the portion of the stomach that he was removing.  He told me that it looked benign, but I won't have final pathology results for 1 week.   Little bit nervous, but grateful because if I didn't have the surgery they wouldn't have found the growth at this early stage.
