Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but glad you are doing well. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year but did not need to have chemo. Sounds like a rough treatment.
Did Dr. Rashid do your bariatric surgery and your breast surgery? I think she is the greatest. She did my breast surgery. Dr. Steinberg did the bariatrics as well as removal of the gallbladder.
Try not to worry too much about the weight gain. Your mind should be on recovery and becoming cancer free.

My endo doc had mentioned Venofer...I don't see him all that often. Maybe I can get the chemo nurse to give it to me during one of my treatments. I called the lymphadema nurse to see if I could get a quicker appointment with the therapist. (My appointment is 3/22 although I saw the doc almost two weeks ago. In the mean time, I'm keeping my arm elevated and doing my arm stretches. I did ride my bike 5 miles today...which should help the circulation clear some of that swelling out. Thanks again!

I take a 50,000 IU vitamin D weekly because my body has trouble retaining Vitamin D. I also needed B12 shots for some time but no longer. And watch the iron - I do not absorb it thru oral supplements so I am still receiving a Venofer infusion every 6 weeks. It's painless and helps with the fatigue. I also have lymphadema in the left leg and have it checked/drained periodically to ensure there are no clots present. I also find the swelling in my leg is better when I exercise. Good luck!!

Thank you!! This is very helpful. They just put me on vitamin D supplements and are watching my iron. I have done yoga and pilates in the past. I just saw a groupon for my local yoga joint and bought it. I've got some swelling going on, so I want to check in with the lymphedema specialist before I start going. So glad to hear that you are recovered and thriving! Apreesh!

I am a cancer survivor. Post surgery I was exhausted. I worked with a nutritionist to assure that I was getting additional supplements that may have been needed due to the surgery and cancer. I did some exercise just to keep my sanity (walking, stretching). Beginner yoga (I used a DVD) was also helpful for relaxation. I am now recovered, back to running half marathons and training to hopefully complete a triathlon one day. Take it slow and you will be fine.
Topic: RE: Cancer and Smoking
The risk of developing lung and other smoking-associated cancers is related to total lifetime exposure to cigarette smoke, as measured by the number of cigarettes smoked each day, the age at which smoking began, and the number of years a person has smoked.
Topic: Kidney Cancer
I found out two weeks ago I have Kidney Cancer. I have surgery in two weeks to remove half of my left kidney. I was hoping to have plastic surgery this year never did I think I would be having surgery to remove cancer. Feeling very lost and scared.
