Topic: RE: Is Cancer common with WLS?

Cancer is common with obesity. Weight loss is more likely to assist in cancer diagnosis since you will be more aware of health issues and more likely to get early treatment.

Topic: RE: kidney cancer-any others dealing with tumors after R&Y

I had VSG in 2010, partial left nephrectomy in 2012 and partial right nephrectomy in 2013.  All good since then and my kidney function is "better than average for a woman of my age" according to the specialist.  I have no problems digesting proteins (other than roast beef or steak and that has been an issue since VSG).  Hope you are doing well.  I thank my VSG for saving me since my cancer was discovered in ultrasound when i thought i was having gall stone problem.  Without the weight loss they may not have discovered the tumours so early.

Hi, I think there is several reason of the sickness or the fever but the water is more important of them. The normal water is also danger for our health because there are number of harmful bacteria which is the reason of the fever. The filter water is very important to avoid the bacteria in it. What kind of Thyroid support supplement (natural) have you found to help you the most?  I am doing research for Hypothyroid, but it seems like there are sooo many different types of supplements and mixes of supplements.  Thanks.

Topic: Anyone diagnosed with G-MUS after surgery?

I had the vertical sleeve on June 30, 2014. Since surgery my blood work has been all whacked out showing elevated proteins and low red and white blood cell counts. I am under the care of a hematologist. Just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar?

I also will be 3 years Cancer free in just a few weeks. I had a scare a few months ago when my Cancer markers were also elevated. My Oncologist told me the blood test to check for cancer markers is not a perfect test and can be elevated for numerous reasons not just an indicator for Cancer. My Oncologist said she could redo the blood test in 3 months and more than likely my numbers would be down or I could have a pet scan to definitely rule out cancer. I opted for the pet scan just because I knew I would drive myself crazy with worry. I would think having WLS could raise the cancer markers but I know I wouldn't rest easy unless I knew for sure. Good luck with everything......

I keep hearing about cancer and in the list of questions for the surgeon, there are cancer questions. So its it pretty common to get cancer after WLS or is this a concern for WLS patents for a reason? Whats the deal?

Thanks for your replay HappyAddy!

I have tried a variety of things diet wise even cutting out gluten and feel I need to see my new endo to explore my thyroid now for possible nodules etc....  I have been feeling ill for over 2  years now and it's just taking a long time to get diagnosed.  Thanks again, Nan.
