2013: 20 Funny New Year's Resolutions
When it comes to New Year's resolutions, our family members and friends can get quite creative and even funny with what they resolve to do in the New Year. Here a few good ones I have heard along the way...Oh, and a few of my own!
1. I resolve to stop procrastinating about procrastinating!
2. I will stop sending Facebook messages and emails to my loved ones when they are in the same room as I am!
3. I will use my treadmill for something other than a place to hang my jacket.
4. I will not sit at the kitchen table in my PJ's all day. Instead, I will move my computer to my bedroom.
5. I vow to never take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night!

When Dr. Sifers was alive he stated that do not get pregnant because if you did he would have to take measures to reverse the wls process. So it was always a possibility that it could be done.
I have not been to this site in forever. It is funny that the only BPDs talking are from Dr. Sifers. He was my surgeon also, on May 12, 2003. I went in knowing about both and that he did mainly the BPD w/o DS, but I hoped to talk him into with the DS. Well, he talked me into the BPD w/o DS. I knew my downfall was sugar and the dumping with deter me. Hahaha yeah right. A true addict will struggle through the pain. I didn't follow the wls plan completely but I still managed to lose 200 lbs. My goal was 180 and his was 160. I never reached either. The lowest I got was 198.
I have yo-yo through the years. I eat bad then when clothes get too tight and I hit the gym and diet again. Bad part about that is the losing quickly in the beginning of dieting again. Example is now I wa****ting a high of 272, I was eating real bad and ended up in the ER with pains from constipation. So I decided to hit the liquids again as stated by SIfer to start back to scratch. I lost 20lbs in a week. Well, that seems great and I feel like a winner. Then the bad foods call me back and I slow down again.
Also since my surgery I had had to get back on my bipolar meds which helped to increase my weight before surgery. I did have hernia repair last year 10/2011. Which I believe I had nearly since I had my wls but no doc could figure it out until the pain wouldn't go away on it own and they had to figure it out. I never heard a good word about Dr. Sifers either from other health professionals. I am glad I had it done. I knew all the risks and complications going in. At the last ER they told me I was anemic. I hadn't been low in iron since my surgery. I am usually told I am low in potassium because I also take a diuretic or magnesium. But those are in those crisis ER times. On normal check-up blood work, everything is normal.
I sometimes think of getting a revision to help to lose more weight. Does anyone know of what would be the best revision for a BPD patient?
Hi Tresha, when the Dr did my revision all he really needed to do was resize my stomach...he said my original Dr had left it somewhat larger than what he would have, so my revision was rather easy. My stomach is now like I've had the sleeve we were originally planning on doing a band but my insurance company didn't think that would be the right fit for me since you know they are all Doctors (NOT)...the bypass part was just like it needed to be...
It's been just a little over 2 months since my revision things are going slow for me but I have lost 31lbs and I seem to be stuck...but I'm hanging in there.
Good luck with your decision...
Debbie
I am curious also. I had the BPD without DS and wanting a revision. Not sure what to revise to though.
How much of your small intestine did they completely remove from your body? Do you have any bowel issues?
The BPD is a highly effective surgery for weight-loss, but it sometimes comes with some pretty unpleasant bowel and vitamin issues. Good luck to you!

Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.
A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But things have just changed! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.
Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.
You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:
Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!
You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.
Moving Forward
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

I guess I am one of those 'poor souls' that now have the BPD not the DS. Not by choice. I flew across country to have the DS, but during the laparoscopic procedure the staple gun misfired & they had to open me up to fix the damage - whi*****luded taking my duodenal stump (would have been left with correct DS procedure) & my pyloric valve - to get into healthier tissue that was not damaged. I have lost 118 lbs, and have maintained at just under 140lbs for over 2 yrs. My concern is that possibly without my pyloric valve (No, I do not have any dumping syndrome - which surprised the doc) that I may be 'washing down' my food quicker than if I did have the valve. So I am following labs every 3 mos. And looking forward to following up with another Nutritionist - hopefully one that knows or supports that my numbers need to be on the high end to maintain my health.
