Does anyone have a recommendation for a gastroenterologist in the greater Washington D.C. Metro area? I have developed a stricture and am not entirely happy with my current GI doc in Northern VA.
Thanks!
you probly decided by now but i had the band and it is uslesss so i had revison to bpd ds and wow its awesome this is the rolls royce of all weightloss surgery if you have a little to loose i would get the sleeve but if you have a lot i would definalty do this i am ten years out from this and it is the best thing i ever did to help my health
Look you can have these issue but there are a few things that can help like dont eat too much fat that causes loose bowel motions . also you can become lactose intollerent after ds. The reason the ds is better is because they have left the pyloric valve in which is very important to you not having the runs and it gets more managaeble after time as your learn to control everything and eat better some days i have to go to the loo 3 times in a row then im ok for the rest of the day.
They say the same about "runny bowels" and the DS. Never knew RNY's had those bathroom issues.
I HAD DS SURGERY 10 YEARS AGO AND IT IS ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL I HAD A LAPBAND AND IT WAS THE ABSOLUTE PITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tHE RNY LEAVES A PERSON WITH RUNNY BOWEL MOTIONNS FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS TOO.
Hi Belinda.... Whoa: NOTE: my post was June of 2012!!!!!! This request was long, long ago fulfilled and the study reverted - thanks to so many responders. No need to report about it, now. Anyway, good for you & your Duodenal Switch in March.... I had mine - will be 10 years ago this Dec. 5 (2003) - happily lost & have maintained a 200 lb. loss. I really believe only the "super morbidly obese" should be approved for the DS; (not what is referred to as "light-weights") as they tend to lose too much and don't really require such a drastic, invasive and malabsorptive procedure. Good luck to you!
My name is Belinda B. and I had a very successful BPD on March 15th, 2013; I will be happy to substantiate with detail, what is asked for, in order to show that this surgery was the best thing I could have done for my obesity!
Well to address what you said my method is basically this:
1. Turn oven on 350
2. Put squash, uncut, in baking pan with water and cover
3. Bake 40 minutes
4. Let cool, cut open then scoop
But if you'd like an even easier method, some folks like to microwave theirs. You don't even really have to add the water, I just find the moisture helps the texture of the inside along a bit. If you microwave, though, I'm not sure how long for. I've always done the oven method. Gives me time to prep and make my sauce and everything is done and hot at the same time.
I'm new to the site I haven't been banded yet...7 days. But am getting to as many sites and ideas as I can. I want to make this work so healthy is the key word. I am 63. It's going to be hard to revamp at this point in time but will give it my best shot. Thanks for all the good ideas.
Every month this year, I have sent out a couple of cards to people chosen at random from my Rolodex. That's right - I rock it old school.
The lucky recipients receive a good, old-fashioned, snail-mailed card, delivered to their mailbox. No strings attached; it's just to provide a day-brightener.
If you want to be added to the list, PM me your mailing address. And skeptics rest assured: I have no interest in doing anything else with your address!
