I really want to try your "Spaghetti Squash Alfredo a la Nik" but I'm soooo intimidated to roast a spaghetti squash!

Like I said, I know very few people that actually have an actual BPD, and most had something go wrong and the surgeon had no choice but to give them a BPD or something close, or they had it long ago, and many of those folks had it reversed due to problems exactly like your daughter, and some died, so thank goodness she is back to absorbing more.

If you and your daughter aren't already, you MUST be in contact with Vitalady. I don't think TOS will allow me to put the link in here, but just put the .com after vitalady. Vitalady (Michelle) does sell supplements to bariatric patients, but she freely gives advice to help you get and/or stay healthy here, and never mentions a word about her business. Her prices are good, and and she has the formulations of things that work for our altered guts. Don't waste money on supplements we don't absorb.

She also knows the hybrid and oddball surgeries (she's one herself) so your daughter can tell her what she has, and Michelle will know exactly what she needs. My nutritionist was clueless at to my needs, and mine are much more common than your daughters. Her idea of fun is going around the country to weight loss things, and listening to seminars on our special vitamin needs and reading medical data on vitamins, so don't let the lack of letters after her name fool you - she is the best, and her advice is free.

daughter   just underwent a BPD reversal due to malabsorbtion issues for now going on 2 yrs.  She originally had the RNY precedure but regained alot of her weight.   The doctor did this precedure and it did shed her unwanted regained pounds, but she became so sick and protein levels dropped like crazy.   She began to swell from ademia as well.   The reversal was done and the common channel put back in place to where she will now absorb again.   The scary part is now that she has become so used to basically eating like a horse all day, she will now have to go back and eat sensibly with only protein and very little carbs and fat.    She does have a lapband also intact in "case" she should really begin to creep back up the scales at this point.    She will be taking in 100 gms of protein a day then dropping that to 60-80 eventually.    I pray that this precedure now that has been reversed will allow her to absorb again.    Did not do the DS with the precedure........I hope that this will bring about alot of feedback as we don't know of anyone else out there that has been through this precedure........most others have had the BPD/DS...........major difference........thanks for letting me post on here.

Topic: SWAPKINS March 3, 10:30a - 2:30p Burnsville, MN
Hi all, I've scheduled another SWAPKINS March 3, 2012 10:30a - 2:30p. Mary, Mother of the Church (look for this sign) Room: The Mary Center (on the lower level) 3333 Cliff Road Burnsville, MN   There is excellent parking, building access, and there will be carts available to bring in your swap-ables and take your goodies home. Tell everyone you know! Forward this email! The event just gets better with every person who comes.    ------ Do you have clothes that haunt your closet - the clothes that don't fit quite right? Or maybe they do fit, but you don't feel great when you wear them because they aren't your style, or you just don't need them? Would you really like something new to wear? Maybe you've changed jobs or gained/lost some weight and you need some clothes, but you don't want to spend a lot to get something new?   COME TO SWAPKINS! We will have tables and clothes racks loaded with clean clothes in good condition. Clean out your closets and bring clothes to share. Check out what we've got and take home what you like. NO MONEY IS EXCHANGED. We will have men's, women's and children's clothes - everything from casual clothes to dressy. Also outerwear and accessories. The mix is different everytime, but it's always good stuff!   It's hard to explain how much fun it can be to bag up and get rid of clothes. No garage sale tagging! No bargaining with a consignment shop. Just bring them and *poof* they're gone and you KNOW they've gone to a good place.   It's hard to explain how much fun it is to walk into a great big room full of clothes and pick up anything you like and take it home, AND IT'S FREE.   We need bringers (who will bring things to share) and takers (to 'shop' the shared stuff). You can be one, the other, or both! It is not required that you bring anything to the event to take anything away. Everything at the event is free.   Email with questions. See you there! Jen   P.S. If this note was forwarded to you and you'd like to be added the the email list, send a note directly to [email protected] with your name and email address. ===   SWAPKINS is a community event that began in 2006. Participants bring clean, clothes in good condition. The clothes brought in are placed on tables marked with sizes. Then attendees “shop" the tables of clothes with sizes that they can use.  All remaining clothes are donated to charity. No money is exchanged.   This event is typically scheduled every 3 to 6 months. Most participants are from the Twin Cities area, but some do come from outstate Minnesota and Wisconsin .

Topic: ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card
 Dear OH members,

ObesityHelp is happy to announce our new ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card.  In coordination with NeedyMeds, ObesityHelp is offering this card to our members at no charge.

This ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card offers you another way to save on various prescription costs.  You can save up to 80% off the price of certain prescription medications.  Members can use the card if not covered by insurance or by members that decide not to use their insurance.  For instance, if a prescription medication is not covered under your insurance plan, the co-payment or deductible is high, if the maximum benefit has been exceeded, or if they are in the donut hole, members can utilize this card.  The drug discount card is not an insurance plan, but provides patients with discounted rates on prescriptions. When this card is presented with a valid prescription to a pharmacist, a 0-80% discount may be provided.  However, you may ask the pharmacist to process the discount card through the pharmacy system, as well as your insurance card, then choose whichever offers the best savings. The discount card often provides better discounts than many insurance plans.

The ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card is accepted at over 61,000 participating pharmacies (within the U.S. and territories) and includes large chains stores such as Walgreens, CVS and Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid and other regional chains and local stores.  Additionally, the ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card can be used for over-the-counter medications and medical supplies if they are written on a prescription along with pet prescription medications purchased at a pharmacy.  Your card can be shared with friends and family members, and you are invited to print a card for their use too.  The card is active now and has no expiration date. When the ObesityHelp Drug DiscountCard is used, OH will receive a minimal amount to assist us as we make the journey with our members to fight obesity. If your pharmacist is not familiar with the drugdiscount card, they can call Argus Health Systems at 866-921-7284. The phone number is found on back of the card

What If I Have Insurance?

Anyone can use the ObesityHelp Drug Discount Card card but it cannot be combined with insurance.  You can use it instead of insurance if:

  • The insurance has no drug coverage
  • There is a high drug deductible
  • There is a low medicine cap that has been met
  • There is a high copay and the card offers a better price
  • You are in the Medicare Part D donut hole

The card cannot be used to lower a co-payment.

A Few Things You Should Know

  • This card is not an insurance program-it's a discount card.
  • There may be no savings for certain drugs, including many inexpensive generics.

Here's how it works:

  • Download your ObesityHelp Drug Discount card HERE and print the page.
  • Cut out the card.
  • Give the card to the pharmacist along with your prescription.
  • The pharmacist will tell you how much you can save using our drug discount card

ObesityHelp appreciates our members!!  Look for more exciting things to come for OH members!

Sincerely,
Member Services
