Thanks to Kitty_White for being my wonderful and friend!
I found the book club much the same way you did! hehe Just stumbled on it.
I had a few people that wanted to start reading books again and so I asked for suggestions and they quickly petered out! hehe
Well since I have finished Kim. I'm up for anything. I do like historical reading. I LOATH romance books. I do like some sci-fi and fantasy.
So through out some suggestions and I'm game!! hehe
I didn't even realize there was a Books & Literature forum on OH until I tried searching for book club information. I'm so glad I found the board! I guess there isn't an active book club going here, except for what you're doing?
I love to read! It's too late for me to get in for October. What were you planning to read in November? R&R started a book club there but I've already read their pick for November, LOL!
This month I've read:
And I Don't Want to Live This Life by Deborah Spungen (R&R October pick & very depressing)
Paradise Alley by Kevin Baker (excellent historical fiction)
The Next Thing On My List by Jill Smolinski (November R&R pick, very lighthearted easy read)
Lost Boy by Brent Jeffs (another downer)
Hope to hear back! :)

I love vampire books, I'm always looking for new series, I like series and not just a single book, it seems to last longer and more happens... Anyways - check these authors out.
Laurell K. Hamilton - Anita Blake Series (17 so far in the series) and her Ballantine Series about Fey and other world stuff...
A lot of these I don't know the series names, but if you searched the author it'd tell you... i get them too mixed up after reading them all...
Kelley Armstrong
Kim Harrison
Keri Arthur
Kresley Cole
Sunny
Charlane Harris
Mary Janice Davidson
Janet Evonovitch (could be different spelling)
Jennifer Armintrout
L.A. Banks (this is a long series, but good)
My co-worker is big into this stuff too so she's always telling me new authors, I can't keep up!
I'll be posting like I did in sept on that book. I hope that other's will join in with reading it, or posting what they are reading!!
Here are the covers to Rudyard Kipling's book Kim that you might find in stores and online.
The last book cover is the one I have.
Happy reading!!

It was a fairly good book. I have to say I knew when she came up pregnant and they introduced her brother's friend that he was the father.
It was still a VERY interesting look into a culture that is not mainstream. VERY well written, even if some of the plot was a bit of a strecth (a judge saying that you are released into their custody and they have to live with you...not likely hehe). Still, all in all, very well done.

I'm really curious about who the daddy of the baby is. I have my suspicions, but will keep them to myself.
I do have one mild annoyance and that is the lawyer staying in the home. As strict as she makes the father figure to be, I can NOT see him bending and allowing an Englischer to stay in his home. I mean he kicked out his son.
The book also has a bit of "Agnes of God" feel to it as well. Not sure if many now-a-days have seen that movie, but it's similar to this in that novice nun comes up pregnant and throws the baby in the trash and the French authorities (the convent is in France) call in a psychiatrist to investigate. This feels similar to me.
So....what did everyone else think so far?!?!?
