Topic: Need suggestions
I am going back to college next semester to study English and I am looking for a list of great American writers(I didn't go to school in the States moved here when I was 21)so I am kind of lost looking around. Right now I am reading Tennesse Williams(love him)but will like a book or books that talk about American Literature. Any suggestions? Thanks, Celi

Topic: RE: very interesting reads.
Hello Renee' I love to read and I read just about anything I can. I love Tess Gerritson, But I have not read all her books, But yesterday, I ordered a few more than I hadn't read. I started reading Lisa Jackson "see how she dies" last night and I haven't put it down. I think I will read a few more books by her. I get tired of the same authors and i seem to read a few by one author and then read other books and then go back to an earlier author I liked. I use to be into lawerence sanders and I still do go back and forth with him. I have read every single VC andrews book, and I started reading them when i was a young teenager. I found out that amazon.com has used books for sale and they are cheap. I bought a Tess Gerritson for .50 yesterday and with shipping it will be almost 3.00. When i see them at flea markets, i have to pay 5.oo a used book, because I cant find any place around my home that sells used books. Well, take care.. talk to you soon.. bye

Hi Julie! Here's a good site for you: http://www.kidmagwriters.com Lots of good info on there. Are you a member of SCBWI? Here's their website: http://www.scbwi.org I've been a member for 8 years. Also, http://www.write4kids.com and be sure to get their free toolbar -- great stuff. I love writing for kids! Sheryl

I didn't know that, Sheryl! Awesome! I'm trying to break into the children's magazine business. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I have a couple of non-fiction articles and one short story out for consideration right now.

Topic: Mystery Series Suggestions??
I love to read mystery series. I have read Patricia Cornwell, J.A. Jance (both JP Beaumont and Joanna Brady), JD Robb, Janet Evonovich, probably a few more that I have forgotten and I just started to read Kathy Reichs. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks!!

I'm a writer too! I write for children -- fiction and non-fiction -- mostly children's magazine work. I also am working on a screenplay (adult) right now and am a member of the Arizona Screenwriter's Association. SHeryl

I hear ya, Tony. I know what I need to do with my writing. Doing it is another story altogether. I am active in two critique groups, but I definitely critique more than I submit. Maybe I'll try doing the kitchen timer writing again.... Julie

Topic: Robert Jordan?
Is anyone else ANXIOUSLY awaiting the new Robert Jordan book that comes out soon? I love the Wheel of Time series, even though it is getting disgustingly long and its horrible waiting at least 2 years between books!

Topic: RE: JRR Tokein's Books
Hi Beth, Just found your post ... if you haven't yet, you MUST MUST MUST finish the last book ... it's the best part! And they left SO much out of the movies ... pick them up again. I usually read the set about 2-3 times a year and Tolkein's use of language never ceases to amaze me. Just enjoy the WORDS since you already know the story. He really did start it all -- how many other authors have had so many books compared to theirs? OK, I'll stop now. Ann PS: Try the Silmarillion -- exquisite.
