Topic: RE: Mystery fans?
Have you read any of the Joanne Fluke, Hannah Swensen Mystery series? I enjoy the Stephenie Plume series and the Swensen series is also a lot of fun. There are 8 in the series so far. I am really enjoying them. Give them a try. I think you would like them. Best wishes, Betty
Topic: RE: Mystery Series Suggestions??
I never really got into fiction or mysteries until recently when I picked up a Stuart Woods book called Palindrome. It was spell binding. In fact, as I was reading it another girl at work would read it while I was working. I have passed that book around 5 times now and everyone loved it.
Topic: Audible Books; George R R Martin; Tad Williams; Diana Gabaldon; Orson Scott Card...
I am a sci-fantasy reader myself.
Just recently I read the first three George R R Martin books in the Song of Ice and Fire series. What richness in his story telling. For whatever reason it was I did not finish the series and already there is another book out with a final one close on its tail. I must get back to it and soon!!
I liked Diana Gabaldon's series as well. I first read Outlander about 5 years ago and two others. Then moved on to something else. Later my dad referred me to Audible.com where you get books downloaded and burn to CD or to whaterver personal device you have for listening to audio files. The first ones I downloaded and burned were the Outlander books. They were abridged but still good. The reader is excellent.
If you drive alot like I do up here in Alaska, its great to have audio books. You absolutely can't beat the Audible.com membership either. Check it out if you like to listen to your books.
Right now my son has me reading Tad Williams' Otherland series. It has been extremely entertaining.
So, what other fans do we have out here??
My recent thumbs up list:
Secret Life of Bees....read it on my way home from surgery in MX.
Red Tent....Audio
The Birth of Venus....Audio
Life of Pi....Read and Audio
Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin Read by Roy Dotrice:
A Game of Thrones...Read and Audio AAA+
A Clash of Kings....REad and Audio AAA+
A Storm of Swords... Read and Audio AAA+
Enders Game by Orson Scott Card.....Read....read again recently AAA+
All of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon was good.
Topic: RE: James Patterson/Laurell K Hamilton
Hi, I just now found this board. I've read most of Patterson's books also. I think I've missed the last two. I really love the Alex Cross series. I think Morgan Freeman is perfect in the role. If you like vampires you should read Anne Rice. I didn't like the movie INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE, but I loved the book. I also like John Saul & Peter Straub. Robin Cook & Michael Palmer write great medical mysteries. I've never read Laurell Hamilton but I'll look her up.
Now that I've discovered this board I'll be coming here a lot...Eve

I read the first 7 or so of these and then stopped because of the delay. Maybe I should . . . START ALL OVER! I loved them.
Do you read the Terry Goodkind series as well?
Topic: RE: Readers????
I'm with you. I love mystery/thrillers. I also like Sandra Brown. Seems like I have a tough time taking the time to read. I'm also so tickled that my 5 yo granddaughter loves books and is reading very well.
Blessings,

Topic: RE: Calling all writers
I'm also a writer. I'm as of yet "discovered" but time will tell. I particularly enjoy fantasy, general fiction, and suspense.
