Topic: RE: Weight lifting and diet.... reality check
Brenda, A BodPod machine measures the amount of body fat. It is very accurate. They have them available in most cities. Call the local gym and ask them where you can get a BodPod test. Don't settle for a caliper test or an electronic scale test. They are not accurate. Here is where I went to get my fat tested

Welcome Brenda, You will love this group.. There are some real experts in body building, power lifting and fitness in general. I try to provide the comic relief.......on your question, I agree with the group. Listen to your body and take it slow. Add additional classes as you feel ready. Keep the weight training and cardio in balance. When it comes to exercise, more is not necessarily better. The muscles need to recover before you can push them again....and don't let "reality" TV skew your perception of the "real" world. This board is motivation. Good Luck and keep us posted on your success!!
PS, Its nice to have another cute lady posting on the board...woo hooo

Valerie,
I had been walking 4 mi a day for the first 4 months out of surgery..then it got colder and I stopped. However today when I walked I ppicked my pace right back up and did all the machines with very little effort. I was amazed. My mother wanted me to swim with her, but she couldn't get me off the machines. lol I have 3 weeks to get back into gear before the classes start, so this will help me work up to it
the have single classes for 5 bucks...that was a good idea! I think I will just do the pilates class and the circut traing class,...maybe the cycle class to...but not the 6 am class. You no why I am in such a hurry??? I feel like I wasted most of my life being obese and now that I am down to a normal size,I want to look normal without clothes to. I am not against plastics, and I will do this to fine tune myself. I don't have really any responsibility's except part time job, and hubby. He can fend for himself! My daughter is getting ready to have her first baby so other than keeping her a couple days a week that is it. And oh man do I want to be on the SWAN!!!!!!!!
Second best thing is to go to Stacy's spa she went to...woudln't that be great! Now if it would just rain money,I'd be there. lolol
I'll keep you posted.

Nice Job Val, We are so proud you. Keep it up. Make sure you save enough energy to pay your personal trainer. I hear that he will take sexual favors for his services rendered. You know trainers are not cheap these days. Its pay back time.

Hey, now that's exercise, I know, because I have done it. Except I think I probably swung, oh, about 130 times...
I am not the greatest golfer in the world. I go as comic relief.
I am telling you, right now, I am some kind of wiped out. It hit me about 4:30 tonight, I had to lay down for about an hour and I feel tired right now like I have never known.
It is all worth it! Because come August I am gonna blow the roof off baby!

EEEowww!
That is awesome! You is gonna hurt so good tomorrow!
Just walking for me, carrying a 50# golf bag for two hours, 2 miles total, and swung a club 48 times..
Topic: NO CRY BABIES HERE!!!
I did it and I didn't cry!!! Hurt like a m*$&^#$$*#^ But I did it!!
Earl helped me today and I think I had a MOST AWESOME WORKOUT!!!
I had new PR's in the squats today!
Here goes:
95# x 3
115# x 3
125# x 1
135# x 1 NEW PR
145# x 1 NEW PR
155# x 1 NEW PR
HELL YEA BABY!! My legs felt really strong. This is officially over my body weight...It was all I could do to keep from jumping up and down like a maniac, and I am talking these were squats from parallel too!
Now this is where Earl busted my ass
Leg extensions 85# for breakdowns. I don't know what he did but he kept putting on and taking off and I just had to keep doing them till he said stop.
Leg Press 130# for breakdowns....he tried to make mama cry, but I didn't!
Lat pull downs
60# rep out
70# rep out
80# rep out
Seated rows
60# rep out
70# rep out
80# rep out
Diesel shrugs supersetted with regulars
15# for 3 sets each rep out.
Now I did that in 1 hour. Talk about intense. I am wonder how I will feel tomorrow. And yes, I walked out on my own power from the gym.
Thanks Earl, you are the best trainer!
