Heya Craigerzz - Thanks for your post. It is so true - I completely stress out about the ups and downs with my food intake. Maybe I just need to relax and let everything fall into place. I try to eat healthy most of the time. The slip here and there doesn't bug me but when I get a string of 2 or 3 days in a row of unhealthy meals or overeating combined with not getting to the gym I start to worry. Congrats on your success.. all the weight you have lost is amazing. Wow!!

Hi Stacy, I know how it can be to stay consistent with the work-outs, it can be challenging! I seem to get going really good for a couple weeks then slack off for a couple weeks. Good Luck on your upcoming surgery, I hope all goes well for you. I had the same moods and eating habits before surgery. I was in "last meal mode" and wanted to eat everything I could get my hands on! What I've since realized is that I can eat all those favorite foods that I used to enjoy , I just can't eat as much of them, which frankly sucked at first, but I've grown to like since I've lost a lot of weight. Before I had surgery someone on the main board posted that people that go into last meal mode before surgery are less likely to be successful. I stressed when I read that, but what I've learned is that "last meal mode" is completely normal. Don't feel bad about it! Hope this helps,, Craigerzz 379/270/200

Just got the call a few minutes ago and couldn't wait to tell you all! Well that woke me up! I'm having my Lap RNY on 4/19 with Dr. Kligman at University Medical Center in Baltimore. I can't wait!! Now to get back into the mind set that I am "in-training" for surgery. Must get to the gym and get the diet back on track!

Thanks Val! You really should drop by the post-op pregnancy forum. As a mother, an ob nurse, and a post gastric bypass patient, you'd be a big help!!! We'd love to have you!!! I've gotten a lot of good information out of my hubby's maternity nursing book from a couple of semesters ago. He will graduate with his bachelors in nursing in May. I'm so glad all this school is almost over. He already had a bachelors in criminal justice and it wasn't good for much of anything. He's going into surgical intensive care and then maybe the ER. His preceptorship is in the ER of a level 1 trama center this semester and he loves it! I really appreciate your support. My hubby and I had gastric bypass one month apart, so I'm especially motivated by you and your hubby doing it together. We enjoy working out together too. Hope to be seeing everyone a lot more. Thanks for everything! Jennifer

Hi Sweetie! You don't even need to ask. You are always welcome over here. As an OB/GYN nurse, and a woman who has lost a pregnancy, I am understanding what you are going through. You have a great outlook, but I know there are going to be rough days. I kept telling myself, and I firmly believe that your body has a way of knowing something just might not be right. Here's a big hug ((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hang in there! I am gonna have to pop over to that forum to see what the scoop is, we are just now seeing a new influx of post wls patients getting pregnant and this is such a new area, especially with nutrition, etc. We are trying to educate the OB docs about a lot of things. Now, for the protein thing...I use Hood's Carb Countdown milk. I mix 1/2 chocolate, and 1/2 fat free with one scoop of unflavored whey protein. It has a tolerable texture, you can't taste the whey and it's isn't overly sweet. It rounds out to be about 35 grams of protein. I am adding glutamine to mine, but that is because I am training hard core to compete right now. You can add unflavored whey to anything. I add it to yogurt, I make pancakes with it ( I also use the hood milk and egg substitute too), and instead of using syrup I use peanut butter and make a power proteing sandwich instead! I hope those help. Take care, and by all means you just come back anytime! Val

Thanks Stacy! I never thought about the sugar free syrups, cocoa powder or pudding. I love Jello sugar free chocolate pudding! Thanks for the suggestions and your support. Jennifer
