Meet day - Saturday
I drove up to Pa. Friday night, about a 3.5 hour drive into the heart of Amish country. It's a real trip following a horse and buggy down the highway.
It was hot and sunny Saturday and after I finally found the discus field (they hid it from the rest of the meet, back behind some trees, behind a construction site, behind another row of trees.) It was nice once we got there but when they played the National Anthem, we looked pretty silly standing in this field, facing some trees, with our hats off and our hands on our chest.
I got third out of the group. They didn't group it in age brackets like they normally do, so I was competing against guys throwing lighter discus and young college kids. But I still got a PR 102'3" with a 2 k. I've done better in practice, but with the drive and little sleep, plus I never eat right while on the road, I'm happy with the PR.
Shot Put, I hit a PR too 31'11", but again competing with guys that could throw a 13 # shot as opposed to my 16# and the college kids I didn't even place. I still had some fun. I blew out my forearm in March throwing Shot so I don't practice it much. I didn't even think I was going to be able to throw it at all this year. So again, I'm happy with a PR.
I drove home Sat afternoon, laid in the pool and drank beer all night...RELAXING.
Back to work today.

Just some discus and shot put practice for about an hour today, then some yard work.
Basically, relaxing until Saturday. Will drive about 45 min to a high school tomorrow where I can use their ring to practice, then off to Pa..
