It is funny how we can let things keep us from something that will help with the funk. Many times I have done the same thing, but once you start getting the endorphines flowing your mood elevates, I have even solved issues while working out; ideas have come to me and my outlook changes for the positive once I get moving. Do not beat yourself up, every day is a new opportunity.

Okay...I'm not one who likes to miss a day at the gym...but I've had so many negative things happen in the last week that I only went twice to the gym last week and just decided to skip out last night....
HELP!
I can't seem to shake this funk!

I also forgot to mention that a good cardio program requires Carbs. The WLS mind set is to limit Carbs,.... but most WLS people don don't do serious cardio...so they cant afford to eat Carbs. Since you will be doing cardio, adjust your carb intake up a little. Carbs are easy for your body to convert to energy and they give you the "instant" energy you will need.

This looks great. Remember, Building muscle requires more protein. Make sure you adjust your protein intake. Secondly, throw away your scale. If you are building muscle, you won't see weight loss....your clothes will just fit better. Lastly, don't give up too soon. It takes a long time to build muscle mass. Just make exercise a habit. It may take a while to see the results, but it is worth the wait. Good Luck
Topic: RE: SUNDAY workin it
Hey hey hey!! Yo Shorty up in da house!
I'm feeling better, Earl is so so...poor guy. I just hate it when he's sick!
I had a really condensed HEAVY workout since I didn't get to do my heavy benching Saturday, I combined my heavy squat and heavy bench. Talk about wiped out. I didn't do a ton of exercises, but the one's I did whooped me!
Here goes!
Max squat day
45# x6 x 4
95# x 5
115# x 5
135# x 5
145# x 2 I wanted to do more, but the knees said no, I gotta be careful with them...I am getting old you know!
Quarter squat lockouts
205# x 1
225# x 1
255# x 1
Heavy bench
45# x 10 x 12
65# x 2
85# x 2
95# x 1
105# x 1
115# x miss This is my sticking point right now for some reason
I need to work on this. I think it's more mental than anything...but I am really working hard to push past it.
Lat pull downs for upper back
60# x 6
70# x 6
80# x 6
That's it. I worked every muscle group in my body. Stressed and broke them down, so hopefully this will get me some bigger gains next weekend. I am really watching my knees, they sound like rice krispies and have been really sore lately. YIKES!
Have a good week gang! The weather has been just BEAUTIFUL here! Thanks for sending the sunshine Mike!

Thank you and Dana both for your input, it means a lot to me. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery, you are already fantastically (is that a word?) beautiful and stunning, it will be awesome to watch your progress!!
I think I will keep on with my program, right now as I am going along, if a weight feels too easy, I move it up a little. Same with the treadmill, if my heart rate isn't up where I want it, I will up the incline a bit. I keep a diligent spreadsheet week by week so at the end of my 6 weeks when I meet with the trainer again, he can see where I am and adjust my cardio and weight training accordingly. Everyone has to start somewhere. To me, this is better than just sitting at home, which I had done for so long.
The vitamins and other pills REALLY helped me. I had been low on iron and had NO energy at all, even with the weight loss, once my iron levels reached the level that they should have been, it was like someone turned on a switch in my body. I actually don't mind going to the gym. I hope that doesn't change. This is my new vice.
Take care all, and I will post here more often. I like it...it's nice and quiet with a few great people...just the way I like it.
Enjoy today, it is beautiful here in Illinois, I hope it is where you live too.

Mike, you got me wanting to do Billy more and more.... hmmm that didn't sound right did it?
Great job. I think what I need to start doing is increasing my endurance as well. My weights and strength are going up, now I just need to work on more cardio and endurance.
Keep it up Mike! You are doing great!

Tami,
In times like these I try to look at the good side of it. I mean, you know I feel like a toad whining about my saggy boobs! Bad Val.
At any rate, what I mean is that I believe God brings us to things for a reason. He wanted you to find out about this, that's why you were made to go through this. I am assuming they are gonna fix your blockage first right? This can actually be another comorbid feather in your cap for getting your surgery approved. Now we know the weight HAS to come off to relieve the stress on your heart.
I am glad they found out now and not on the OR table. Now, you can fix it. This type of thing happened with Earl too. He had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) and those are hugely fatal. Earl was one of the lucky few that got treated immediately. That was his wake up call to be sure.
It's not your time, and we are gonna make sure that you are here with us a long long time.
BTW It's ok to cry, ask why, but remember that the answer doesn't come to us right away. You will see it, just be patient, be still and let it reveal itself. I know I am one to talk, I have a hard time with that. There's a reason my claim was denied. I don't know why, don't understand it, but one day I will.
You hang in there. Go hug your kids and your hubby, and thank God they found that blockage so that you can have a lifetime of hugs and kisses. We'll get you there just hang in and be that strong woman we all know you are.
BIG HUG!
Val
