Topic: RE: Stacy's surgery is over and she's doing great!
I plead the 5th and I dont remember a thing.. Ok maybe a few bits. I have little snippets from recovery that came back to me. Really weird stuff. Sounds like I was being a drama queen. They didn't end up needing to do a hernia repair after all. However, I did fail my first leak test on the OR table. As dana mentioned, an air bubble rose up. Dr. Kligman pulled my parents aside and informed them of what happened. He didn't sugar coat it. He said he has seen it so far in 22 cases but in all cases the patient was fine. Sounds like it would have been scary to be in there shoes. Glad I was asleep! At any rate, as Dana mentioned, they put a couple of drains in and that seemed to do the trick. Also spent a ton of time in Radiology the next day. They kept taking lots of films. Being on the table was horrible. I got jerked around a lot when going from the standing position to laying. The stuff they used mixed with the crystal light was pretty nasty. They had me drinking a lot of it... too much for my swollen pouch but it was necessary. Two radiologists and two techs worked on me. It was a lot of back and forth back and forth. Scan me, look at pictures while I wait, scan me again. I think 3 times total. A student was there as well who was out of this world. She was so so good to me. Kept bringing me cool cloths and massaging my head to help with the nausea. I guess I was looking pretty flushed. Then eventually they sent me back up to the intermediate unit and said things looked good. As soon as I got back up they made me come back down again for a 2nd round of flims. My guess is that they were looking to make sure there wasnt any sign of that leak. This time I didnt have to drink anything. Anyway, I got the all clear eventually and have been fine ever since!

Hey Stacy Today I was pushing a lady and mentioned that this was only my 2nd day walking people and she said "ohhhh that explains it. If you keep at this job you'll loose all that fat you need to loose". I felt like letting go of her wheel chair as it went down a steep ramp....but I didn't. My feet are starting to look like a strange science experiment. So I might as well leave the blisters and see what it turns out to be. I guess the weigh really isn't important considering I can't lift from behind anyway. I'll just have to find someone taller and stronger to do the back lifting...hehe....they'll love me. You should be in bed....taking it easy!!!!! Thanks for the info. Stacy. Tami~

Nurse Val should answer this one. I was always told that popping blisters could lead to infections and its best to not pop them. Congrats on getting such an active job. That should help a ton with your weight loss and building up stamina as well as strength. My Dr told me that I shouldnt lift anything more thatn 25lbs for the first few weeks. Not sure the exact amt of time. I want to say 3 but it might be 6. If you are feeling any pain at all I would go very easy. Not sure what the hernia risk or other risks involed are but Im sure Val will have that info!

Topic: Walker/Runner feet?!?!?!
Hi everyone I just started working at the airport and walk about 10 miles a day walking people from their airplanes to the luggage pick-up or all the way across the airport to another location. I have water blisters on my baby toes and my ankles are killing me. Anyone know if I should pop the blisters or just leave them be? Also....I am suppose to learn how to pick people up out of wheelchairs. I couldn't even lift from the back the poor girl acting as the passenger. I did fine on the lift from the knees of the passenger. Does anyone know what the weight is we can lift after surgery? I'm a little over 2 1/2 months out but don't want to give myself a hurnia. It's only my 3rd day....but I'm wondering if this was a mistake. Would LOVE any idea's. Tami~
