Thanks Earl...that's a fantastic Idea. I don't know why I didn't think of this....... I will work additional weights after my regular pump classes to help with the muscle gain to see if that works. This way the muscles will have the time to recover....but keep building muscle mass.... I'll let you know how it goes!

Topic: need more muscle mass....
Okay - I don't do what is "powerlifting" - all of my weight lifting is what I get from the BodyPump classes I take (3x a week). I'm forever getting comments on the definition I've acheved from that though so I'm happy with it. I wonder if lifting more on the machines wouldn't help me to gain more muscle. I know muscle burns more fat - but I'm not sure how to go about adding more into what I do since I'm not going to over burn my muscles. (you're supposed to let the muscles rest for 24 hours after you use them.....keep reading...LOL) Incase you don't know what BodyPump is.....it's an all over weight based work out completed in one hour. (Literally it hits all the major muscle groups.....squats, chest, dead lifts, clean and press, upright rows, triceps, biceps, lunges, calves, shoulders, abs.) I have increased my weights in there - but I don't lift the amount of weight you all do because this program is more designed for endurance and strength rather than muscle mass. The few times I have used weights or the machines I can lift a LOT more than I do in class..... Taking this class three times a week - plus I do 4 - 5 cardio classes a week and 1 or 2 specific abdominal classes a week.....I do work out a great deal! any thoughts or suggestions? My "Boss" (Since I'm starting to work for the gym now....LOL) wants me to gain more muscle mass to try and help my body burn more fat. I agree 100% but don't want to over burn the muscles..... I'll stop rambling now! much Dee Dee

ditto for me on the food to exercise.. except I've had both for a while now!! haha! I've heard some mixed info on the Batrix clinics. Its good to hear you liked them. I thinks its helpful to know that the sole focus is this surgery and they have the system down pat. I am looking forward to also helping Dr. Kligman with his program and getting them up to par. My nutritionist makes us document everything we intake in the first few weeks and we have to bring it to our appointment. Granted she gives us paper to do it on but I think the PC is easier. I'm in IT.. what do you expect?!! I hate paper. Want a good laugh.. my mother is taking anti-anxiety drugs right now and it is doing wonders for her. She has IBS related to her anxiety. She is also in a high stress sales job. I use things like meditation, yoga, writing, exercise, and Dana to keep it in check but I definatly know that if left on its own I would be a stress ball. I think we just need to get out of the northeast and move to mid-west or west coast. We may actually do that in a couple of years once my weight and health is stable. Dana's family is all from the San Jose area and I absolutely adore them and love it there. I see a 2nd career in the future too.. maybe related to fitness and nutrition. I'm sure that would also help as well. Nap time for me again. Headed to zz for a couple hours. Talk about relaxing. Me, cat sleeping on top of me, 1 sheltie on one side, 1 sheltie on the other. Now that is some serious heaven.

John, you crack me up! My hubby is actually quite pleased now that he's gotten over the initial shock. Of course, part of it is that we've actually been at home at the same time more often now that graduation is closing in. And I'll sign up for anything that burns calories!!! Thanks again. Jennifer

As detailed as you are (and I say that in a loving way) , you should have gone to a "specialty" hospitals. I went to Batrix Clinic and they ONLY do Gastric Bypass. They could not have been nicer. They did everything by the book. Please just RELAX. You will be fine in a few days. Don't waste time with documenting liquid intake on computer (OCD), Just read a book and RELAX. Enjoy the time off. You will feel better. We all made it and you can too. Just go to sleep and dream about you and Dana jogging on the beach. PS. Get that anxiety issue checked into further. This may have thrown you over the edge.

LMAO.. So funny cause that top 10 was so simple and pretty much covered everything I did. I like your cliff notes version. I would also say we are all a tad bit OCD here and that is what got most of us here in the first place =) OK.. well I know for a fact I am!! I also think women are more detailed oriented then men when it comes to stuff like this. He needs to know what is going on. It might help the next patient passing through. When I write this up for him I will just give him something with bullets under a couple headers- Opportunities for Improvement and Things I liked =)
